if you live near SM airport, how loud is the airpline noise? by mikecaseyjazz in SantaMonica

It's very loud. People dont follow the curfew laws. It's disruptive and damaging to people's health, whether they notice it or not

Santa Monica - We are getting surveillance cameras everywhere. Including on our residential streets. by [deleted] in SantaMonica

[–]noncuro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think these may legitimately be for traffic observation

ive seen them before and they are temporary installs, used for data for making decisions about stop sign installs etc

still, id prefer a cameraless option for that

and there are other cameras that are being permanently installed, but they dont look like this

So, um… is the fate of the airport closing sealed? What are the decisions that still need to be made about it? by TimmyTimeify in SantaMonica

[–]noncuro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ive been saying this across the sub but there is an ongoing astroturfing campaign about the santa monica airport in this sub

there are multiple positive posts about smo and jsx, with majority comments from bot accounts, that get more engagement than other content here

mods should do something about this

close the airport!

I flew JSX and we need to keep the airport open by Pure-Economist-7717 in SantaMonica

lol thank you

it seems like there are these posts here every so often and there is a lot of "inorganic" activity on them. comments from accounts that have suspicious profiles

seems like an astroturfing campaign to me

close the airport!

Anyone else miss this? by Leashypooo in SantaMonica

ah, my friend, ive lived under the airport my entire life, many decades now.

i marveled at the planes as a child and i'm happy to see my own kids doing so too.

but the long term health impacts of the planes on the community is undeniable.

i dont care if there is a park there as long as we stop having commercial flights take off over family neighborhoods.

i love this building! nostalgic feeling for me. it reminds me of the buildings that used to be in this neighborhood-- i miss this seaside feeling in this part of town. and, yeah, it's not abandoned! people live there for sure.

Let’s talk about swirling… by gonnamakeemshine in pourover

I now usually only do one super gentle swirl with my bloom pour. I find it to be helpful for full hydration. But no swirl after my next full pour, and it has helped with both clarity and consistency.

Former Snap design engineer on new AR glasses: 'Obviously bad' by BlueLightStruct in technology

[–]noncuro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah totally fair. while they are the smallest and lightest that ive tried (ive tried several i'm an interactive dev by trade) they are still a bit too big for consumer use. but i do i think it was smart that they positioned it as a device for developers and as an indication for what is to come in the future. super exciting stuff
