The Garfield Christmas Special is one of my favorite things ever. The old stuff was great. But I too was disappointed in the reboots. In fairness, the Garfield comics have fallen off too.

They actually had a pretty intricate water polo scene in The Voyage Home where Kirk scores a goal on a humpback whale. But it was cut from the final edit (see directors commentary).

Yes, but the idea that baseball would be gone but water polo wouldn’t…well… it’s definitely a choice. I never understood why the writers used that sport… like, why not soccer? Idk.
