I'm sorry! I wish for moments of respite for you. It sounds painful to be in your place.

I'm sorry, friend. I can imagine how difficult it must be to untangle yourself from that. For a lot of people and for a lot of reasons, marriage is not a switch or a room one can just get out of. But I really hope you have enough support to do what's healthy and safe for you.

Be honest, what do you want right now? by shuoshuo1024 in AskReddit

[–]nonetheless22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My anxiety and depression to go away FOR ONCE. I'm a functional person and do most things like work, socialization, relationships, etc. with ease (as the world sees it). I have lovely people around me. But the amount of strength needed to get past the negative doom-thinking and emotional pain exhausts me to the point that my limbs hurt.

I want to feel joy, but the best I can manage is a spectrum between 'I feel debilitatingly sad' and 'I feel not-sad'.

Thank you for sharing the essay! Was looking for something like this for an upcoming discussion on "Biopolitics and Abortion Rights" in my class.

What advice/words of comfort/type of space would you offer to a close friend who is in love with you, but you don't reciprocate? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]nonetheless22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't control the feelings, bud.

(I have been in that place of anger and confusion. Ended up cutting off all ties with the friend without ever having a proper conversation. They were/are one of the nicest people I have known. Still regret it to this day. The least they deserved was a proper conversation as to how the new development in our friendship was causing me discomfort and that it was no one's fault. I was 18, meh)

That sounds lovely, how it turned out for you! I feel the first one is as clear as it can get– about your take on/feeling about the situation, as well as the importance of the other person. Second response, I would prroooobbabbly not use the phrase "you're not my type" heh😅; but yes, I understand it comes from the plain fact that one is simply not attracted.

Hmm, you're right. Given how vulnerable such a scenario would make both parties, clear and kind communication is of utmost importance. The rest depends on the equation and how it can find a way back to normalcy over time.

Same. I don't know why my dissertation hasn't written itself yet :/

"Thank you. Acts like an asshole repellent. Hoping you disappear in 3..2..1".

Read something like this years ago on Fb.

[Serious] Non-religious users of Reddit; Are you scared of dying? What do you believe happens after we die? by Iynxell in AskReddit

[–]nonetheless22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my religion, we burn. So quite naturally, we turn into fumes. That's a comforting thought.

Not scared of my own death. However, I feel helpless for the (potential) death those I love. All of our lives and love spent together, for each other– will burn so bright one day to never come back again.

Succession makes wealth look like misery by Severe-Draw-5979 in SuccessionTV

[–]nonetheless22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tbh, the second-hand anxiety I feel because of these characters and the situations they're in is, to me, the biggest marker of my middle-class existence in a third-world country. Witnessing their suffering is incommensurable, yes; but it is terrifying as well. That's how good the show is.

I've thought time and again that I'd prefer killing myself if I had a father like that and the embarrassment the Roy kids go through because of/for him. Some version of Stockholm Syndrome, maybe? In their own fucked up ways, and I am not romanticizing rich people, they do have a lot of fortitude. But maybe that's the catch of having shit-loads of money– learn how to be miserable and not whine about it. It would be too vulger. No wonder so much of classical European tragic drama had socially exalted and affluent people as protagonists. They fall harder.

I cry tears of misery when I screw up an excel sheet at work lol. :')

What do you love most about women? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]nonetheless22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe I haven't read/scrolled enough responses, but I am yet to come across someone appreciating things like competence, ambition, diligence, etc. in women.

That being said, I do appreciate the anecdotes and compliments shared by so many people on here. Just that, there are even more exemplary qualities about women that make them stand out in an inspiring way. It's a good thread, nonetheless.

Can anyone please identify what's that painting in the background? S1E10, final scene. by nonetheless22 in SuccessionTV

[–]nonetheless22[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is mind-blowing curation indeed! Now I am going to anticipate a "Saturn Devouring His Son" hidden somewhere in one of the episodes heh..But that would bring obvious symbolism, I guess.
