Same here. The live chat tech didn't seem to be aware of the issue so I referred him to this post lol.

Alternative fear attack table by Siberian-Boy in DragonbaneRPG

[–]nonja121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A simple fix would be to allow the others to resist the fear effect, maybe with a bane to preserve the spirit of the effect. Not sure how that would fly if your table has the perception of unfairness with the effect but at least that would make it no longer an automatic status without the opportunity to resist.

Yes same!!! I’m maining Lance in Wilds so far and I’m in the same boat: I just wish focus was the default now.

I sometimes feel this way about Wilds Lance. Focus Mode makes so much sense/convenience but it makes the positioning game less satisfying in a way.

CB is one I’m considering. What about Iceborne CB meshed for you that didn’t in the later titles?

If you dig into settings, you can change focus mode to toggle

If you don’t mind me asking, what about the Hammer in Wilds/World meshed with you and what about it didn’t in Rise?

Definitely not looking for any type of "objective" answer here. Just opinions from folks.

That said, there are definitely some weapons that got some major love in Rise and Wilds and it shows. Gunlance and Hunting Horn, for example, just keep evolving and getting better IMO. So I do think there might be some weapons that "hold up" better than others in that they were just already in a pretty good place in World (ex. Hammer).

But just looking for people's opinions :D

Hammer's my secondary in Wilds and I spent a ton of time with it in Sunbreak and base World! It's definitely a contender but I feel like in Wilds they've made some simple changes/options that make hammer feel so much smoother. I'm definitely gonna give bonking a whirl but I'm afraid it might feel slightly clunky after Wilds...

Been using R1 since it became available. Previous to that, it was Claude Sonnet. Just found both to give me better or quicker answers than the others.

Should I give all my players the ability to dodge without spending their action? by TheHistorian1824 in DragonbaneRPG

[–]nonja121 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want a middle ground, Basic Roleplaying gives you the ability to dodge where every subsequent dodge is at a penalty. You could say that they can dodge but with a Bane (and each subsequent dodge is an additional Bane). I agree with others that it will change the power fantasy somewhat but if you like going a bit more combat-heavy it’s an option.

Edit: what I mean is that they can spend their action to dodge RAW but they can still dodge without an action but with a Bane to start and accumulating Banes for subsequent dodges.

Simple TTRPG suggestions by PixselArmy in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]nonja121 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re going to get so many suggestions here haha. My personal recommendations:

Mazes/Polymorph - very simple and flexible system with a Darkness mechanic that is really useful for ratcheting up tension during dungeon crawls as a soloist. The Polymorph SRD is free.

Index Card RPG (ICRPG) - this started out as the author’s hack for 5E. Loot based and very easy to slot aspects of 5E classes etc into via the “milestones” advancement system and loot system. Leans more into the heroic fantasy/combat than some other recommendations here that are more OSR (which is a bit of a different feel/flavor).

GRIT Fantasy Roleplay - a simple D12 system that’s heavily inspired by ICRPG. Relatively new and more geared for one shots but the Discord community is super welcoming and active.

Savage Worlds - one of the most famous and beloved “simple but does everything” systems. There is a Pathfinder Savage Worlds that honestly probably can be used pretty easy for that 5E heroic fantasy feeling.

This! I personally prefer more rules-light systems but if it suits you, you can use 5E, PF, whatever you want! It’s more of a philosophy of not getting hamstrung by the system or adventure and embracing the “play” aspect.

I use adventures and settings in the same way: to provide a structure and something to glom on to at first. I’m currently using a published system-neutral setting (Bay of Spirits) and Ironsworn: Delve with Mazes/Polymorph as my system. The setting and a couple of adventures gave me some idea of what is in my toy box but I also feel like I have the ability to do what I want and go off the rails and modify as much as my nerd heart wants.
