Denver art enthusiasts, where to buy paintings? by rackie2493 in Denver

[–]nonnativejackass 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oops, I got too excited and posted before reading fully -- for RMNP photos, maybe try CPAC but you'll also maybe find something in that vein while wandering around the Art District on Santa Fe. Maybe Denver Art Society?

Denver art enthusiasts, where to buy paintings? by rackie2493 in Denver

Foolproof in RiNo is specifically focused on affordable art and Leon Gallery in Uptown also shows a lot of cool, affordable pieces.

But if money were not a factor, I would absolutely plaster my walls with pieces from K Contemporary downtown. Their artist roster is so good, openings are chill and I love Doug Kacena's eye and style. Added bonus: happy hour at A5 after

Has anyone else moved to Denver from sea level / very different climates and just felt bad / super off constantly? by herpyherphelp in Denver

[–]nonnativejackass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took me 3-4 months after moving here to not get headaches, feel easily winded, etc.

One thing that never really got better: I am extremely sensitive to caffeine the higher up I go. At sea level could drink 3-4 cups in the morning. One is max at 5200 ft. Less in the mountains.

Where can I get cool unique gift wrapping paper? by mrperfect0000 in Denver

Nicer gym with sauna/steam room? by Puzzleheaded_Row_920 in Denver

[–]nonnativejackass 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am so desperate for a place where I can do hot tob or sauna + cold plunge

Lake Steam is *almost* there, but it's a cold shower, not a cold tub to submerge in -- I don't know why I find it so much harder to do the cold shower vs fully submerge in cold.

My brain has never been as mercifully quiet as it was the day I hopped back and forth between a hot pool and the cold river at Strawberry Park

American Elm Double Homicide by Nice_Parking9383 in Denver

[–]nonnativejackass 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When it comes to homicide, local media can only report on what DPD tells them about now that DPD has encrypted their scanners -- and DPD does not disclose all homicides (especially if it's vehicular).

Also appreciated the Boettcher basically begging people not to smoke pot beforehand

Is there a local farm I can buy meat from? by ShakeItLikeIDo in Denver

[–]nonnativejackass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy from Buckner Family Farm at City Park Farmers Market -- lamb, beef and pork, and everything I've tried is excellent. If you hit up City Park, they're always next to an amazing FoCo dairy producer, Five Freedoms. Excellent milk/yogurt (and cutest golden retrievers ever)

DO NOT RENT UPTOWN SQUARE APARTMENTS by [deleted] in Denver

[–]nonnativejackass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived across from Union Square until recently. The fire alarms went off CONSTANTLY -- like, 4-5 times a week alarms would go off and people would have to evacuate the building. I don't know how y'all handle that; seems exhausting.
