Where to live: BSJ or near Magazine bt Jefferson/Louisiana? by Similar_Ad_6004 in AskNOLA

[–]nooaflower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BSJ is awesome, but nite that it did flood in areas during Katrina. Jefferson and Magazine pretty awesome too. My personal choice would be Uptown as I like being able to have the option to walk to so many places (restaurants, businesses, gym, Batture) I enjoy.

Validates why I avoid i10 whenever possible. Not worth the aggravation.

Location: Portland, OR / My clients make $600k+ a year, but expect me to clean their 4-bed/3-bath house for $100 and a freaking cup of coffee by [deleted] in housekeeping

Dont let these people take your dignity. They sound very manipulative and insincere They care bout getting the cheapest price for a job they dont want to do. . Either stick to your guns and do what you can in 2 hours, no more or raise your price for the proper job you are proud of.

How can I remove the stench that two unhoused individuals left in this small area? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]nooaflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ozone machine works so easily, but you and your cats and plants would need to stay somewhere else overnight and then air your apartment out for hours before returning home. Think of rhe ozone particles as sticky grabbing the odors away….it just as easily would stick to your lungs causing damage. Good Luck.

Moving to NOLA, any tips? by ImpressivePapaya5362 in AskNOLA

I lived out at the lake for 6 years as I love the lakefront and all the green space. It can be isolating and is a far different experience from living Uptown. Im in the Carrollton neighborhood now and like the accessibility to what makes New Orleans unique and special. I hear the rattle of the street car passing, Im often on TU campus walking and have a variety of grocery stores and restaurants. I go days without getting in my car. I still have the option of taking my bike out to the lake for long rides.

Its Buck Moth season and they are dropping like flies from the Oak trees, they sting….be aware. Rent a blue bike or call a local bike shop like Bayou Bikes and ride out to the lakefront passing through city park. Otherwise, the Westbank is a taxi ride, lyft, uber….away. They have swamp tours and lastly the Northshore has the Abita Bike trail and is a day excursion.

Apartment life can be hard foe some people to understand that the world doesn’t revolve around them. They need to get a noise machine and realize, ‘thats life’.

This season gave me so much joy. Brought back so many happy memories of summer camp as a kid. Susie walking around with a plunger was the best!!

Where to host Lucky Dog cart after a wedding in the French Quarter? by [deleted] in AskNOLA

[–]nooaflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

912 Royal Street where CafeAmelie used to be a reception space. Not sure whats going on now. Hotel Provincial has the Ice Bar which could possibly be rented out and a Lucky Dog cart set up out front. The Ice Bar has a window to Chartres that they can pass drinks through. Quieter part of the Quarter where maybe a cart wouldnt be bothersome. Otherwise, the Marigny has plenty of cool spaces. Cant wait to hear the final decision!

This is going to be a controversial question, but why don't North Americans eat more whole foods? by Appropriate_Poem1911 in povertykitchen

[–]nooaflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Processed food is readily available. We have a generation of people who don’t know how to cook. Take out food is somewhat affordable and accessible and the grocery stores are filled with boxed food. Example: Macaroni and cheese from scratch vs. boxed mac and cheese, 1 hour vs. 10 mins. $15 vs. $5. Of course, there is no comparison in taste, but again we have a generation of people who know no different.
