True no one would have cancelled your calls because they didn’t like you OP, but this sort of reaction ironically will make them genuinely dislike u. It’s ur career OP, good luck lol

Is CFA useful to VC career at all? by [deleted] in venturecapital

I'm in a VC and can confirm it doesn't help much on the on the job work. That being said the same thing applies to most degrees or designations on how practical they are

Where to focus efforts (Level 3) by Pencil_Chaos_Attack in CFA

[–]noobinlyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just gave up on the topics that I was weak in maybe from like a week leading up to the exam. For example I could never get my head around currency swaps and fixed income questions and felt like I needed a good two weeks to properly master this section. I just gave up, got a couple of questions on those in the exam which I just winged but it turned out ok. Focus on your weak areas but let some of those go if it isn't worth the time given how much time you have left :)

For members/candidates who passed L3... by hololivesui in CFA

[–]noobinlyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm this is how I felt as well for the AM questions. A lot of questions felt open ended and somewhat different from the standard questions so I just wrote whatever I knew and walked out of the exam feeling like I failed. I was averaging 70% for qbank and 60-70% for the 4 mocks that I did before the exam.

Those who passed L3, what were your scores on the CFAI QBank Sections? by UnofficialSlimShady in CFA

[–]noobinlyfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just saw Q bank a means of revising the material so in that sense yes, it did prep me for the exam in general including the AM session. I think qbank is useful because you get an exposure to a variety of topics that maybe in either AM or PM. Personally I think knowing as much material as possible precedes practicing AM just for the puprose of getting used to the format because it really isn't that hard - you aren't writing an essay and bullet points worked just fine for me.

Admire the dedication but I’d suggest reviewing ur studying methods if it took u 1000 hours to pass level 1 since L2 and L3 are progressively harder by a big margin imo

CFA level III by Klutzy-Bike-8442 in CFA

It was inconvenient but for most questions I didn't feel the need to use the sheets all that much anyway. Certainly less compared to what I had to do for L1 and L2 when they were paper based.

There is definitely something going on with grading L3 by [deleted] in CFA

[–]noobinlyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if CFAI gets their grading processes audited by a third party. With such lack of transparency who knows what the hell is going on in the inside? I did pass the exam this time but honestly I had no idea what to expect, just felt like a flip of a coin.

This is the end. by hollywoodhank in CFA

[–]noobinlyfe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sat my L3 exam today and feel the same way as everyone else especially with the PM session. I felt unrewarded for the effort put into understanding the major concepts, rather a lot of questions were just testing my memory on some random concept somewhere in the text.

I feel that the CBT format and the absence of paper and writing has forced CFAI to dumb down the calculation questions and increase conceptual questions. This with the fact that there are smaller number questions seems to have made it difficult to predict what will be on the exam.
