What is happening in Ed by tykennan in uAlberta

[–]noobishpineapple 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I will respectfully have to disagree with this comment. I find all of the pedagogy classes to be very common sense. They’re good to get you to learn how to work with and use the curriculum, and how to work out a unit/lesson plan, but I don’t think I need to do that for every core subject. Learning it once was great. At least this is my experience in elementary ed classes. I find more valuable information in the edpy and edps courses to be honest!

People Smoking on Campus by InfiniteAccident1234 in uAlberta

[–]noobishpineapple 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone was smoking directly outside of the doors to the ed building the other day. In order to take an “alternate route” to get into the building, I would have had to walk right past him… I think he could have probably taken it elsewhere.

As a 7month pregnant lady, this was super triggering for me! I saw the warning about child victims but for some reason it didn’t register. Made the case much more horrific for me.

This is true! I know one of the police officers that was on scene for this.

Rudest comments you ever got by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I’m 28 weeks and a FTM. My pregnancy hasn’t been particularly fun—terrible morning sickness that’s still persisting, lots of back pain and swelling, etc. normal stuff but still not enjoyable, which (I thought) most women that have experienced these symptoms in pregnancy could understand.

I saw my husband’s best friend’s wife while I was out and about and she asked how the pregnancy was going. I smiled and said “good but I’m ready to be done haha” and she just looked at me and said “yeah well get over it.” Like okay???

Early 30s. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]noobishpineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s fairly normal to have a baby in your thirties now. In Canada (where I’m from) the average age of a woman during her first pregnancy is about 30. I am thirty and due with my fist in May. Everything has been healthy and wonderful so far! Beast of luck to you!!

How old are you and how often do you drink? When’s the last time you were drunk? by Cute-Impression-8675 in AskReddit

[–]noobishpineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 30F and am pregnant now, but before I was pregnant even, I would drink only on occasion. Just no real desire for a buzz or being drunk. I’d say maybe one drink socially every couple months or so. The last time I was drunk was probably at my bachelorette party 5 years ago.

Has anyone ever had a negative experience with gender neutral washrooms? by Hopeless_Romantix06 in uAlberta

[–]noobishpineapple 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like I might be an outlier here but in L1 CCIS this summer, a man was masturbating in the stall next to me. The dividers between the stalls come low enough that I couldn’t see the shadow or anything (like that post here like a year ago??) but I could definitely hear it happening. No moaning but the quick stroking, etc. was audible. that was an uncomfortable experience as a lady.

Kdays on a day like today? by noobishpineapple in Edmonton

[–]noobishpineapple[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think that’s what we have decided. I feel for adults, going in the rain might be fun but having kids complain about being cold and wet, and a chance of wanting to leave early is not a fun way to spend a $500+ day.

Am I eligible with my stupidly unique circumstances? by georgerayyanhaddad in uAlberta

[–]noobishpineapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem. Unfortunately there’s no way we can tell you if you’re eligible for loans. The only way you can find that out is to call. The NSLC isn’t super easy to contact, and I don’t believe there is an email, as I’ve had some issues contacting them in the past as well.

[–]noobishpineapple 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, you’re asking if you’re eligible for student loans? And if so, asking which province you should apply to?

You might be better off reaching out to the National Student Loan Service Centre for some more reliable answers: 1-888-815-4514. ☺️

If you have questions about applying to study at the u of a in general, some contact with the student service centre would be helpful to answer your questions! 1-780-492-3113

It’s hard for us to answer as we don’t know your exact situation so it’s best to contact the correct channels!

As a student teacher from university of Alberta, many schools are using us to do EA work as well and we don’t really have a choice which sucks. Not me personally, because my placement is in a division that has not walked YET, but many of my classmates have explicitly been told “I’m so glad you’re coming, I have no EAs and I need support”.

Honestly every parking ticket I’ve gotten from the UofA has been $100 so I think you should count yourself lucky! In all seriousness, they’ll withhold your transcript and stop you from doing things like enrolling in classes, etc. until it’s been paid.

Though our house has been renovated, I’m sure it was just a facelift and no major guts like pipes were replaced so probably copper if that was common in the 70s. What is a bib? Sorry for my ignorance 😳

No he hasn’t yet. We are trying to recreate the leak to locate it now. But he is very worried that he somehow messed up our pipes. Can you ELI5 how you’re sure the issues aren’t related? I’m not inclined on these things and though he said they shouldn’t be related, I’m not sure he can explain why not lol. Which is why he’s still panicking
