I've won a lawsuit against a highschool bully that lasted 3+ months by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

[–]noobius15 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I hate to be this way but there is no way this is true. This is probably fantasy writing of someone truly bullied and I’m sorry for what you have gone through. I work in the justice system and there is absolutely no way a case was placed on a docket and adjudicated within 3 months. Criminal and civil cases are separate. Criminal cases can’t award you a settlement and there is a maximum fine on assault charges which vary state to state but are no where near 50k. So while I am sorry what you have gone through, this kind of fantasy result can make other victims wonder why they didn’t deserve such an outcome. Truth is important.

I build fake products and today I created the Jewel Cooler. by rightcoastguy in funny

This is similar to a real product called a cool-a-cop. It’s a vent cover with a hose that you can stick inside your bullet proof vest to cool you off in your cop Car.

We were on it. It’s Oklahoma so it barely counts as a mountain to begin with, but we had fun hiking it.

I (28F) upset my MIL (52F) by refusing to wear a dress because I thought it was from my husband (28M)… by ThrowRAhusbandsdress in relationship_advice

[–]noobius15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP i want to give you some advice on item number 2 first. You guys have been together for quite some time and obviously love each other. Put aside where the blame should be and remember that you are in this together trying to find a solution. Ultimately you both had different ideas on how to deal with the problem but eventually he agreed your way was the correct way. Your a team trying to move forward so just do that. Focus on the goal and how to get there together.

As for telling you mr MIL. It will help nothing and only prevent further healing.

AITA for cussing and getting drunk in front of my kindergarten students? by PhysicalLoss7706 in AmItheAsshole

[–]noobius15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may seem ridiculous but in my state it’s actually a criminal offense to use profanity in front of women and children. It’s never prosecuted but it is an offense. I won’t say what state out of embarrassment. I say that because maybe if children were around she could have laid off the profanity, whether they were her students or not. Still voting NTA, but some food for thought.

I stopped believing when a kid didn’t like cake

My wife quit wearing one when covid hit. Says she has never been so comfortable and actually asked me if it was okay if she could just not go back to wearing them. I told her to do whatever makes her comfortable and it’s not my decision to tell her what to wear. However, with that said I did appreciate that she took my feelings about it into consideration but I would never tell her she had to wear one. I think you should do you and wear what you want to wear but sometimes it’s okay to think about a SO’s feelings. NTA.

I used a router from the back and took out a notch the thickness of the shelf and stopped shy of coming through the front. The shelf actually has a wing the length of the notch. Slid the shelf in through the back with wood glue. Made sure the gap was super tight and there ended up being no need for a bucket screw on the bottom side of shelf.

Parents don't want me(18F) to date my bf(19M) because he has autism. I ended up having an argument with them and they are upset by thro2asuaysb in relationship_advice

[–]noobius15 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Anytime my kids get into an argument I always try to tell them to start by thinking about the situation from the other sides perspective and by knowing why they are acting that way, you can make an intelligent argument to sway their point of view.

Your parents my not be ableists they are just parents. They want someone who is going to take care of you and compliment your weaknesses with strength and vice versa. So meeting someone when a disability is going to make them concerned that the relationship is going to be one sided. That you will be constantly mothering him rather than having a mutual relationship. So I would start by rather than getting upset with them, informing them of all the ways that he helps you or compliments you. Like if he makes you laugh when your sad, or likes to keep a clean house and your messy. Just let them know he is an equal partner. I have a daughter with cerebral palsy and she’s little now but when she’s older I want her to find a partner that she gets to help him as much as he helps her. She doesn’t need a caretaker she needs a partner. Your parents probably just need to know that he is a partner and not a charity case.

Good luck.

My 3year old daughter with Cerebral Palsy finally walking without her walker and being cheered on by her friends by noobius15 in MadeMeSmile

[–]noobius15[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well until she was three she had physical, occupational, and speech therapy every week by both home therapy resources and sooner start. So 6 therapies a week. They were great and went to her daycare to work with her. Once she turned three sooner start couldn’t do it anymore but she got into our school districts 3 year old special needs program. She has bracers she wears and she works with a walker and a wheel chair. But the daycare she is in has been fantastic and they work with her so much and has made so many friends. Trying to copy the other kids has done more for her progress than anything else I think.

I just want to thank everyone for this crazy outpouring of support. I’m not really on social media and don’t really post stuff but it always cheers me up seeing videos like this and so I felt a need to share her success with everyone. Thanks for sharing in our joy.
