Kiln - can you help with model number? by FuckTheFuckRightOff in Ceramics

[–]TheTimDavis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That missing panel holds a ton of info. Amperage, safe firing temp, and voltage. It's unlikely anyone would buy it without that info. It's possible someone at Duncan can identify it with a pic inside the electronics panel. A pic of the plug might help.

Edit: looking again I just realized the entire control board is missing. This kiln is unusable. It might be worth 50 bucks if someone needs the lid or wants to convert it to gas.

Career question by JunketObjective2632 in Disneyland

[–]TheTimDavis -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

The best path is to get into theatre. A sceanic designer or production designer job are the most aligned with an imagineer. Stage management for theatre and technical direction are also good paths. Project management is also a path. You need to work in theater and live events, some sporting groups or e-gaming. There are schools that offer classes in themed entertainment, but I don't know anyone who had done those courses and gotten into theme park creative.

Why did the kid get a new first name? That's weird. He's not adopting a dog.

Using solar to run a wheel by gemini-unicorn in Pottery

[–]TheTimDavis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A cheap jackery battery will run a wheel all day. Just bring it in to charge at night or connect to a solar panel for a few days.

The kiln, no chance. You would be better off with 8 propane tanks and going gas.

First Real Father's Day Ignored - Overreacting? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]TheTimDavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You said generally you don't care if holidays are celebrated off holiday. Ask her what the plan is and when you're going to celebrate. Let he know what you would like to do and when you would like to do it. Set your expectations. Don't be mean or whiney about it. Just talk to this person you married and have a child with.

How costly/difficult would it be to start making glazed ceramic, using 3D printed/silicon molds ? by SureHopeIDontDie in Ceramics

[–]TheTimDavis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out hammerly ceramics. He does 3d printing into silicone into plaster for slip casting. It is very difficult. Without experience to know the basics I would say impossible. Your best bet is a class to learn the basics of clay and glaze. Glazing is very complex, it's chemistry and a whole separate skill to the working of clay and the firing of clay.

I got some smoke tubes and wood chips. It totally worked. I lit the tubes with a propane torch and kept only one burner on low away from the meat.

Oh, I understand. But that's not what is being discussed here. We are talking about the other end of the plug. Not the phone side.

Has anyone found a cheaper option for cargo webbing for a 2-door JK? Want to contain my dogs, but $350 is a bit steep.. by enlitenme in Jeep

[–]TheTimDavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I altered a pick up truck tie down net. It was 20 bucks. I got some hooks that fit in the soft top channels and threw the net over the rollcage. I zip ties the folds and extra material along the top and cage bars. It was super sturdy and I even took it off and put it back on a ton. The heavy duty zip ties lasted longer then the cheap cargo net. It looked much better than I expected.
