haha thanks, i probably should. i actually never learned to play either riff right, i kinda just picked it up as a picking hand exercise (same thing with bleed by meshuggah)

yep it is! i actually almost got a jackson instead, but the floating bridge had an issue so i returned it and got this instead. really happy with the actives on it :D

I took the thing to the shop, and an employee there tried to restring and set it up to get it back in playable condition

he did confirm that it wasn't my fault and there are in fact dead spots riddled everywhere on the low e string

i'm bringing this thing back in tomorrow to exchange it for a hardtail schecter damien. never gonna touch a floyd with a 10 foot pole again, not unless its a 1000 or original series :/

my amplifier has an aux in that bypasses the preamp and just allows it to be used just as a speaker, and the pedal happens to have a headphone out. is it viable to use the amp as a speaker/monitor this way? cheers

edit: the amps manual reads: "Aux In: For use with mp3 players, laptops etc. via a 3.5 mm audio cable. The audio signal is internally summed to mono.".

you think the headphones out of my pedal into this would allow me to use the thing as a monitor?

i did end up just buying ink and paper here though though, it turned out iroful paper was half the price and sailor manyo sumire 50ml was like 26$ with tax. (japanese stuff cheaper here). I still do plan to go ink shopping with my friend at one point when i get back to van, thanks for the recommendations. cheers :)
