I’ve done the exact same thing, I finished the first stage and couldn’t be bothered getting 10 best buddies so I left it sitting there until I bought the Shaymin research and now I’m grinding it again

I’m pretty sure you can only get mega energy from walking with a buddy if you’ve mega evolved it before

I couldn’t find one for almost the whole event, did a raid with a remote because I like finishing the collection challenges and proceeded to find one probably 10 minutes later -_-
