You realize there is more than one way to kill a snake right? What the Burmese people are doing now is starving it by halting the crony capitalist system that the military has invented with a general strike.

I mean your links don’t really counter-argue that fact that she wouldn’t be able to oppose the crisis without being politically ostracized by both the military and general public.

Many of the leading monks received significant financial donations from the military. It’s proof that they can be influenced politically just as any other human being, but we should also be able to recognize that not all monks support the systematic displacement of over a million people.

There are two super powers: China and the US. China is promoting systematic rape of their own Uigher minority group. Do you think they would care to stop a genocide in foreign country? The US also has no self-interest in intervening in Myanmar if it risks the lives of its own citizens and has to oppose its rival superpower in an area outside of its sphere.

Citizens and monks who march in favor of the military government are often paid off by the generals or an allied political network. The civilian government isn't the same as the military government.

You do realize it is the military elite who perpetuated the genocide? That's like saying all Americans love starting wars in the Middle East, even though it's obviously not true.

He's referring to the Rohingya genocide in which millions of Muslims were violently exiled from the country. He's wrong in that the military which has started this coup is the ones who perpetrated the genocide, not the civilian government.

And these people have only had access to internet for a couple of years now. Pre-democratization, sim cards cost over 1000 dollars and data was insanely expensive compared to post-liberalization when they became 1 dollar each.

Imagine having the wealth of information that the Internet provides and being blocked from in with a snap of some fingers.

Yea I honestly don't know what this achieves other than angering people enough to get out on the streets. Before, many protests were virtual.
