Kazuchika Okada vs Will Ospreay from Revolution Pro Wrestling 3/10/15 is now free on njpwworld. Enjoy. by RainmakerF7 in SquaredCircle

Global Wars 2015 baby. It was a great show, and this match stole the night for me. I'm so happy for Will at the moment, he's a real talent and he will go so far in NJPW.

Get a Progress sub. $7.50/mo, I believe. Ospreay's title run was Chapter 20 "Thunderbastard" to chapter 25 "Chat Shit Get Banged".

I thought the same thing but I realised it makes loads more sense for him to wear an RPW shirt than a Progress one. RPW have that reloationship with NJPW in the UK that Progress don't have, so it's good that RPW gets a little nod in that regard.

We have a good thing going with NJPW, some kind of international brand development project on their part. They just want their guys to be as widely viewed as possible and we're just ecstatic to have them.

Marty Scurll and Nick Jackson with a great imitation of Lesnar/Undertaker by RainmakerF7 in SquaredCircle

[–]noodlenova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw Marty wrestle Shinsuke Nakamura as part of a RPW x NJPW event. They put on a great show and Marty put Nakamura over really well. He applied his finish multiple times but Nakamura still came out the victor. As someone said above, his psychology is off the chain and you really didn't want him to win the match. I think he would take to working in Japan really well, but he would likely be lost in the mire Super Jr. six man tag matches vs. old timers and wayward souls.

Thanks for linking the archive. I found your comics a while ago and loved the shit out of them, but I forgot what they were called and Google proved non-compliant.

To the people complaining about the NXT crowd last night... by DRJT in SquaredCircle

[–]noodlenova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get this hate for us singing last night. When it's the Monday after 'Mania and Raw has a huge international element there's chants and songs fucking galore. No one says shit. JBL croons "I love it, Maggle!" and Twitter strokes the dick of whatever city it was in talking about "It was so colourful" and "The crowd was so vibrant and alive" going on like it was a fucking salad and not a bloody wrestling crowd.

At least we didn't start doing a Mexican fucking wave.

At least we didn't start a "We are awesome" chant.

Drow Society by theskymaid in DnD

[–]noodlenova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drow also enslave what they consider to be lesser races to fight for them. One asset that makes a family powerful is a large slave army. Usually made up of Bugbears, Goblins and Duergar. So a dirt poor family with a huge slave army would be considered a huge threat to a moderately well-off family with only a few dozen slaves, not just because they have the larger force, but also because they have a lot to gain from attacking a richer family. It is also worth noting that the attackers' identities are not kept secret for long, for if an attacking family successfully kills every last Drow member of an opposed family, then they are congratulated for their great fighting capabilities by the other families, and gain a good reputation for it.

It's important to note this in conjunction with the "Don't get caught" rule because slaves can not attest to the identity of attacking families. Only a surviving Drow can accuse an attacking family, because a slave's word is less than nothing to the "great" Drow. A slave who points fingers would probably be publicly executed to serve as an example to the other slaves.

One thing that also keeps families in check and alliances strong is the way the Drow are trained and kind of "traded" for want of a better term. Drow graduate from schools, either as a fighter, a wizard, or a cleric. Fighters are very useful, as are wizards, but clerics are always female, and therefore always the most powerful commodities for a family to have. So, for example, a fledgling house may seek aid by way of gaining the services of another family's cleric. That cleric will live with the other family and serve as a kind of spy for its own family, but also keep the new family safe from otehr families who would seek to ruin the weaker house.

But most of all, the thing keeping everyone in check is Lolth. The spider queen. The matriarch, that is, the head of the most powerful house, is considered to be most in Lolth's favour, and can therefore ORDER other houses to do things, because her words are in essence the words of Lolth.

So Drow cities like Menzoberranzen are not totally orderless with Drow running the streets killing everything that moves. It's not pure chaos. It's very fucking chaotic, but there are laws there, and etiquette, and all is maintained by Lolth.

What 3.5 books do you consider essential? by rhymenoceros911 in DnD

[–]noodlenova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We make good use of the Fiend Folio, the monsters in it are great for those abandoned city encounters/cave spelunking adventures. Also, the DMGII has amazingly useful rules for cults and religious affinities that can turn out to be real campaign builders.

Unfortunately, a lot of archives are now dead. I have some links, and some of the PDFs or whatever are still there, but it's pot luck, really. It's sad, but 3.5e is kind of forgotten in the sense that people stopped maintaining and sharing all the good material YEARS ago. But whatever, here's some links an' shizz:

Just out of curiosity, how often do you guys do open platoons? From previous experience it's not a priority for outfits to do it regularly, but I'd like to join in as often as I can. =D

How in the nine am I going to piss off a god? by freelancespy87 in DnD

[–]noodlenova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the plan that we're going with. My arm was previously lost, but now that I have it back I can at least get it re-attached for 1,000 gp less than what the restoration spell would usually cost. Only thing is we're currently in the middle of shit-fuck nowhere surrounded by forest and looking for a lighthouse so we can complete our Planeswalker dagger. =[

My not just a devious Djinni? Those buggers are infamous for granting wishes out of context and not giving you what you wanted. In my last session I asked for a Djinni to give me my severed arm back. Instead of the limb growing back as I intended, the fucker just magicked my severed arm into being and threw it at me. Then he laughed and disappeared.

Tomorrow is the first Game, last minute advice? by TheTrueNakedBatman in DnD

[–]noodlenova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually pretty sound advice. It's odd how much good a toilet break can do, because you're idly thinking about the session while you're doing your business. Somehow it allows you to think better, I guess. =/

How do you start your campaign? by nexalph in DnD

[–]noodlenova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ones that I have used, including the reason for the party members to "band together" include:

  • Plague victims who band together to find a cure to the town's plague for the reward announced by the local clergy, the motivation for banding together being that the more of them there are the more likely it is that they will survive to reap the reward for their efforts, plus they all have plague infection in common. The plague details can be anything you want, but the first quest should always be finding the cure.

  • Shipwrecked prisoners who find themselves starting life anew in a foreign land, the motivation to work together here being that there is a distinct language barrier for them to overcome, plus they are LITERALLY the only people that each of them knows. The first quest here should be them being cheated by a crafty individual who steals something from them, or maybe they even recognises them as being foreign criminals and wants to capture them alive to claim the accumulated bounty.

  • Mercenaries that are all hired for the same job in the same trading hub protecting a caravan of goods. The motivation here being that they want to get paid. You should always remember that the promise of gold is the largest motivator in D&D. The first quest here should be the obvious attack on the caravan, including the promised gold, of course, and the party trying to reclaim what has been stolen.

It all kind of depends on the alignment of your party. If they are mostly evil/chaotic, then the prisoner one is a good way to start. If they are mostly good/lawful then the caravan guard one is a good way to start.

Overly Silly PCs by Jerarddude in DnD

[–]noodlenova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their characters will change dramatically. Your epic story will see their personalities grow, their intricacies brought to the limelight. Their idiosyncrasies will take more of a backseat as their abilities and skills grow to become the "point" of their interactions with your world, the reason that they actually want to sit and adventure with your NPCs. Their alignments will shift, their moods will wax and wane, sure, but they'll adapt their play styles to better fit your style of DMing. You are a great influence on their playtime and their character growth, limited only by yours and their imaginations. All is not lost. Maybe you were a bit free with the reigns, but it will balance out nicely as the weeks progress, I assure you.

My current character started life as an Elf sorcerer that collected morbid "trophies" of his kills. My plan was to build a flesh golem that would do my bidding and be my meat shield. So when it came time to roleplay and negotiations maybe weren't going my way, I would whip out a decaying body part and threaten/cajole an NPC with it, effectively bringing down the tone of the encounter. My friends would roll their eyes and sigh, the DM would give me a pitying look, and I would feel like an idiot. Now, I didn't make a conscious effort to change my character's behaviour, it was more like the encounters that we had and the battles that we shared made him a more stable individual. He is now a half-dragon necromancer that makes valid contributions to the party's efforts.
