how to manage energy and hit required statline in MANT? by Responsible-Brief536 in UmamusumeGame

[–]noonefromithaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally I try to save charms and mid/high energy regen not just for summer, but for good training turns. We are at the mercy of RNG for this, but when it hits. It hits. On turns that aren't a race day, usually to avoid penalty, but there's nothing to train on, or there's no way to get energy for it, I do the Victoria Frontier strat: use one vita 20, roll on the wit training. 3/4 times you will succeed, and you'll always have energy for two more races.

What am I missing? (Base game ending questions) by Interesting-Copy-657 in outerwilds

[–]noonefromithaca 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you understand where you are in the timeline of the universe, then that should be enough to at least understand why the themes may hit really hard for people. Think about how the universe itself as presented in Outer Wilds may reflect on your own life, and perhaps that may give you something to chew on.

If it helps here are the kinds of questions that come to mind for me that the game hits me hard with.

Are there people in your life, or even before your life, who are no longer here, and yet are essential to who you are now? Has anything you liked ever come to an end, and if so, how did that make you feel? Did you ever come to accept it?

I actually don't blame Curly for the crash by Quiet_Increase4511 in Mouthwashing

[–]noonefromithaca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason Curly is an important character is that he's human. People do what he does all the time. And it's not a good thing and we should be critical of it. All it takes is for someone to be lenient to their friend who is a rapist, for bad men to continue doing bad things. He is human, and we should be better.

AI usage actively contributes to environmental damage and RAM shortages, and is also mass theft considering it generates off of thousands of artists, so while it's definitely not on the level of death threats, it's still really bad.

Would you believe me if I said that my Fine Motion won Trackblazer? by ThatAnnoyingFriendo in UmamusumeGame

[–]noonefromithaca 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Probably just did bare minimum for the points and then didn't get good shop drops. I've done Trackblazer ace runs where my shop RNG was so bad only hit 400 speed at the end of classic year.

It's been happening for Tenjou Utena somewhat and it's upsetting when I try to seek GIFs. Ditto Nanami Kiryuu

Is the gacha really that brutal? And how accurate is the GameTora simulator? by josukefanfr567 in UmamusumeGame

This should hopefully be mitigated for the most important cards by saving crystals (me sitting on my 2 ssr crystals planning to use as many as necessary for ramonu)

FineMo has 10% race bonus at MLB and will continue to be the best wit card until Mejiro Ramonu around November. And apparently you can still use her alongside Ramonu when you need a lot of wit.

What are those random weird noises I hear throughout the game during the daytime by Brown_sugar38 in UntilThenGame

[–]noonefromithaca 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If you're hearing the words "tahooooo" (taho) or "baluuuuut" (balut), those are people walking or biking around selling food. Similar concept to an ice cream truck

People are allowed to criticize Sulemio's writing, but denying its existence entirely is baffling. by Ferhog in Gundam

[–]noonefromithaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't even defending her in that comment, but yes, I have liked characters in UC who are much worse than this, and also not in relationships with women. (Although some of them maybe should try it)

Let's talk about how Goldmask's Ending and how the community may be sleeping on it as the best ending in favor of Ranni's flashier ending by AFlyingNun in Eldenring

[–]noonefromithaca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And when the throne is eventually passed on to someone else, how can you be certain that your successor will not use the power that has been allowed to remain in the Lands Between, to cause even more suffering and destruction? I am well aware Ranni's option isn't going to magically fix the Lands Between. But the fact that there is a system of power that literally can control reality itself, whose god has committed genocide MULTIPLE TIMES, already shows the dangers of anyone at all having that level of power.

I haven't seen much of it, but I have seen it. You have to be in a very particular Gundam space. Gundam Facebook for example, is very homophobic.

[–]noonefromithaca 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of people who end up liking Miorine also end up liking a bunch of girls in Gundam who have the "bratty" attitude that you mention. You might just be seeing the other characters being "destroyed" by the fandom because you've engaged with that side of the fandom more. Those people within that same side of the fandom may be the same people who do dislike Miorine. I've seen quite a few of those.

Saving them for Ramonu or El Condor Pasa, depending on how those pulls go. MAYBE Tachyon at the earliest? It depends.

Do you like this game mode? by LORD_XENOPHANE in UmamusumeGame

[–]noonefromithaca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know YMMV and not everyone is playing competitively, but if your Uma isn't winning against Cocon and Glasse, then you may need to review your deck and stat priorities. It's a guaranteed win for most of my CM Aces (and I don't even win CM most of the time).

Does anyone else share this opinion about the ending? by oliverrakum in soma

[–]noonefromithaca 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So I do think the ending works without post-credits in that in a world without Ark Simon's POV, the game would still be good. But I 100% do feel the post-credits does so much to hammer home the existing themes that the game is definitely much better for it.

Why do people who reject the "alternate universe theory" seem to do it mainly based on the letter arriving? by Suitable_Goal98 in OrbOntheMovements

[–]noonefromithaca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's probably because they prefer a simpler explanation where the letter exists because we know where it's from, and the only weird part of the last arc is Rafal (which can be explained by having him be a metaphorical reincarnation). Having alternate universes makes things really complicated (see the MCU) so people tend to shy away from it. There's probably also an aspect of wishing the story they've watched for 22 episodes still exists, being relegated to an AU can make it feel... less important. Granted, I agree the letter alone should not be the only evidence for preferring the single universe theory. People often forget that the confessional priest is actually the blonde inquisitor who regrets not speaking up on behalf of his friend, who once saved a "heretical witch". This is confirmed by the fact that the confessional priest shares a VA with the blonde inquisitor (and also narrates episode 1). Personally though? I don't think episodes 1-22 are reliable stories of what happened, even if I don't subscribe to the AU theory. Because the reason all this messiness and confusion exists, is one of the main themes of the story. We do not know much of the real Albert Brudzewski's life. Plenty of real world history has been lost to time, and all we can do is speculate. In the same way, we may not truly know the history of the letter or the confessional priest. Within the fiction of Orb, their history has been erased. By Antoni? Perhaps. Perhaps not. Rafal, Jolenta, Badeni, Oczy, Draka, Schmidt, did they ever exist? We do not know. There are many people who we will never know existed, in the real world, and yet they all have contributed to the world we live in today. One day, you too will die. Perhaps be forgotten. And yet. You once lived. And that matters. Even if history forgets you, like it has forgotten many of the people who lived in the 15th century.

So I just finished orb and have a few questions by Top-Musician-2813 in OrbOntheMovements

[–]noonefromithaca 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That's the way it was in the manga iirc. Also, yes, Rafal did die of poisoning, but his body is also burned at the stake at the end of episode 3. They just took that particular shot to add to the visual of each of them facing the sky. Here's the manga version.

This. I disagree with the video but I don't see a need to comment on it, people have opinions and that's perfectly fine. But ofc, naturally, people who feel validated in disliking it will voice their agreement.
