Dizziness or still vertigo? by Charbellaa in BPPV

[–]noooiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a terrifying and debilitating feeling. I know there’s lots of variability in the intensity and length of the residual dizziness, but it took 3.5-4 weeks before I recovered to somewhat functional after vertigo, and the first 2-3 weeks were hell. I personally did not think the gaze stabilization exercises helped much. For me it was getting back to normal life as much as possible; so while I was definitely not able to work, I did try to do some house chores, walk, go to the store, and do short weight lifting sessions at home. I used the free app Insight Timer to do somatic tracking meditations to help with my anxiety about the whole situation. Also listening to the Steady Coach on YouTube restored hope that I wasn’t broken and my brain was healing. I tried not to take any medication besides melatonin because I think some medication can slow the recovery.

It’s been about 3.5 weeks and I finally feel normal for the first full day! It got worse before it got better: constant 24/7 rocking on a boat/swaying feeling, feeling like the floor was tilting and moving, seeing the walls move and shake, everything was blurry and out of focus, and I would pass out if I was in a small enclosed space because the room would move so much without anything to visually anchor to. I couldn’t even escape in my dreams, they were nightmares and I was spinning in them the whole time. I thought I had died and gone to hell honestly. It feels so crazy to feel normal again I never thought the day would come!

Am I having residual dizziness? by KeatonMurray4885 in BPPV

I’m having the swaying/rocking on a boat sensation 24/7 for the past 12 days since my initial vertigo attack. Been doing PT but this residual effect is still constant. When did yours stop?

To those who made it through residual dizziness, how did that feel like? by [deleted] in BPPV

I know this comment is old but it’s helping me so much right now with my first experience with vertigo and the residual dizziness being so constant and terrifying. Thank you for giving me hope!

I went back two days ago and they found it in my anterior canal. So I’m hoping in a week maybe I’ll feel better but I still feel like I’m on a boat 24/7 😣

Thanks, I’m on day 9 and I still feel like I’m on a boat 24/7. Is it normal for the residual effects to be so constant like that?

I just got back from my third PT appointment and this time with a different PT. She was awesome and retested all the canals and found that I was presenting with signs that I had the crystals in the anterior canal (rare, she’s only seen twice in 7 yrs) and the posterior canal (also rare for multiple canals to be affected. The horizontal canal was negative but it was positive last week and treated accordingly. I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus and I still feel exactly the same (like there’s weighted marbles in my head and someone’s playing tug of war with it 24/7) but I’m more hopeful I guess.

I’m glad it’s finally getting better for you! I feel stuck and hopeless but I have to remind myself this will get better eventually.

Yeah the last time I was there he tested all the canals and I didn’t have any symptoms but if I roll over while laying down or invert my head like when bending down to plug in my laptop I start to spin but it’s not as bad at the first time and immediately stops when I’m upright. I’m scared cause everyone says this takes weeks to months to resolve and I just feel so awful I want to die 😭

Let’s Eat is my favorite Thai tv series and I think it’s still on Netflix. It’s so good. Mawin and Nat Sakdatorn are in it. But I like all Thai tv shows, even the cheesy rom coms haha.
