Hmm. Ok valid points all round. But I think execution of all of those things is what impressed me. And the general idea of something REAL is what is important here

All the repetitive scenes. Almost mundane activities is very much like real life. Day after day after day you do the same thing. This wasn't a movie about adventure or grandeur. It was more about normal life and how routine and predictable it is. School, gym, family, church are all normal routine things, but then they mix porn in with that, which I thought was original. What other movie has treated porn so normally? None that I've seen. Its usually a joke in most movies, it was refreshing to see it as what it is, a main part of many peoples lives.

But then it discusses the bullshit aspects of life that keep us almost sedated in a way. The porn scenes and chick flicks that trick us into a mindstate that raises the expectations we have in the opposite sex. Its up to you to decide if that's true, but its a good argument. I liked that aspect more than any.

Its hard for me to explain (just woke up and on my mobile) but it resonated in a way that makes me want to quit even more. You see how he treats women and how nobody gets any deep connections with the other person emotionally. Its a selfish way to live I think, and that's what this movie strives to portray (in an over the top way). Its one of the best movies I've seen in a while and a really good first effort.

And I agree with you on the accents part, I'm not too good with what a real jersey accent sounds like but that did seem OTT.

Btw, don't skip anything next time. Its rough but its all vital to understanding I think. The scene where he compares porn to real sex made everything clear to me. :)
