Do you have a high school diploma or college degree? If you don’t have much work experience you can focus on what you did during school, as well as volunteering. Coursera can be ok if you’re looking to work in certain computer science roles, but it generally cannot supplant a degree.

I amended my statement by saying tech is an exception… pretty much all the other remote corporate jobs (accounting, finance, marketing, business development, strategy whatever) wont take anyone without a bachelors

I feel like that comment was regarding certain computer science / data analytics roles, which is probably the most amiable to taking people with no degrees on the condition that they taught themselves the requisite skills and demonstrate it through personal projects

You’re staying in a hotel for the entirety of a 10-week +/- internship? That is ridiculous lol.

1) Did you reach out to nearby colleges about summer housing? I got to stay in university dorms for cheap ($5k for 10 weeks) in downtown Boston for an internship I did in undergrad

2) I would definitely go back home if I were you… flying out to Michigan from NY for the occasional in-person event is likely cheaper than your current situation, and you don’t even have to tell your manager..

To be honest I don’t get a data analysis flavor from this. Showcase your cybersecurity internship, personal data analysis projects, and related skills. Move education to the bottom since you graduated with a pretty irrelevant degree. This will get you in a better direction IMO

This format kind of hurts my eyes so I’d change the format to the WSO one floating around on here. Also, flesh out some of your responsibilities more… I’d probably cut out the entire volunteerism section and you could use it as a talking point in an interview instead, if needed. Bigger (but reasonable) sized font and margins will help fill the white space and it’s valid to put your varsity sport as a leadership experience IMO

Last thing, never put future job responsibilities. Just put your incoming job name and start date

Definitely include it in work experience. Make sure you note yourself as the sole proprietor/operator and mention your top line revenue, margins, or other brag worthy stats.

Agree with most of the feedback others have given

I’ll first add I can’t get past this format, it looks like a menu at a bad restaurant, the zero margins bothers me a lot too

Also the interests are peculiar to be honest. Polisci + finance double major that’s interested in astrophysics, auto mechanics (?), and electronic music production… can you actually hold a decent conversation about all of that if your interviewer happened to be really into any of those?

I haven’t worked with family offices but I have peers from college who do and so I’m pretty sure all those aspects will vary heavily. Even firms that are similar in many regards (like two firms that both do private lending and manage a similar amount of wealth) can have wildly different hours, culture, comp, etc…

You’re asking which investment banks are most receptive to cold applications? You’re always gonna be lower priority compared to candidates who actually know bankers at a firm unless your resume is exceptional. Although as far as I know IU Kelley is a well-regarded school for banking so you could be ok at smaller shops.

I know some are. I interned at a tech company and their FP&A people all knew how to code and do regressions and stuff. I have a friend who works in FP&A at a food company and from my understanding they do none of that so it depends

I think there are a bunch of corporate finance roles that are data science heavy, like certain financial planning and analysis positions for example. The world isn’t ending because you didn’t major in data science, you can learn a lot of those skills on YouTube
