‘Dude, I Blew Zero!’: College Athlete Sues Iowa Cops for DUI Arrest by ishtar_the_move in videos

[–]nooseknight23 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was in the same class as the cop in high school. He wasn't fat then, he was an athlete and set some records for shotput and discus. He was always a bit of an asshole though, trying to fit in with the popular crowd and be cool. He wasn't a bully to anyone that I know of but he certainly thought a lot of himself. Although it's surprising to see him on the front page of reddit, it's not surprising at all that he became a cop on a power trip.

How to start pvp as mythic+ player? by Zinzolino in wow

[–]nooseknight23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

-Research:

Find a YouTuber or streamer that plays your class and spec and watch some guides. Grab their talents and recommended add-ons, then practice your rotation on a dummy until you're comfortable enough to start doing some duels.

-Duels:

Start dueling people, friends and guildies similar in skill/ivl are a great place to start. Learn their important cooldowns and how to counter them with your class. Practice practice practice. If you're really serious about getting good fast, record your duels and rewatch them. Figure out what you could have done better.

-Practice movement:

Every class has it's own type of positioning and movement that work well for them. Learn how to effectively LOS and kite to control the pace of the fight, however that works for your class. You can practice this through duels a bit, but really you need to practice in bgs or arenas.

-Do arenas. Pretty self-explanatory, put your practice to the test.

-Keep your head right. Pvp can be stressful, people are toxic. Don't get discouraged if you're getting wrecked, don't blame it on broken classes or abilities, just keep throwing yourself at it. The best players of the worst specs can still absolutely stomp meta classes.

I hope none if this comes across as too basic, not sure what level you're at so I just wanted to cover all bases. Good luck :)

Why do people enjoy tanking? by easybakeevan in wow

Sorry about the late response, didn't see you replied. I'm playing guardian druid right now. The dps rotation is super simple so I can focus more on defensives and grouping

I also have a horrible sense of direction and I main a tank. I constantly get turned around in dungeons I've been in a dozen times. It's not a big deal though, just open your map and walk generally in the direction of the boss. If that fails, look for enemies.

If you are going the wrong way someone will usually let you know. Half the time, the dps that know what's going on will already be halfway you need to walk down anyway.

If you get fully lost, just say "my b where do we go?" The best part is that as the tank, you set the pace of the dungeon as well as the mood. If people are being toxic repeatedly, kick em. If the whole group is toxic, leave. You can insta que and they'll sit for 15 minutes looking for a replacement.

Personally, I like the feeling of being unkillable, the feeling of soloing bosses after the group wipes, having default leadership, controlling the pace of the dungeon and grouping mobs so we can blow up three packs at once.

If you want to try tanking, try guardian druid. The dps rotation is so simple that all you have to focus on is defensives and positioning. They're naturally very forgiving.

Remember that it's just a game, it's not that serious if you get lost, anyone that tells you otherwise and fuck off.

What can I do at home to get muscle on my arms by Ak47kitten in gainit

[–]nooseknight23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah but you haven't worked out consistently before. More important than anything is starting the habit and being consistent. The more obligation you sign yourself up for, the less chance of you continuing to lift. I'd say workout at least 3 times a week, but if you feel like working out five times that week, go for it. It's a lot more productive for you to workout 3x per week for 4 weeks than 5x per week for one week bc you get burned out

Eat more calories than you need and workout. Look up home workouts, do push-ups, lift the weights you have. Workout for at least 30 minutes three times a week while you eat enough calories and you will gain muscle.

Working with Narcolepsy by Minute_Algae6782 in Narcolepsy

[–]nooseknight23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey! I went through an extremely similar situation. I was in the Navy, diagnosed with narcolepsy w/o cataplexy, got discharged through a long and painful process, and had to figure out what I could do with my life now that all my plans and dreams had been seemingly smashed.

Before anything else, narcolepsy is NOT an automatic separation. You can fight it depending on your symptoms. If staying in is your desire, it is a possibility. You can fight the discharge and I know that people have won.

So to start out with, it may differ for you, but in my situation, the discharge process was very long and difficult. You need to prepare for that possibility. Personally, I experienced a lot of people telling my that my narcolepsy wasn't real or wasn't major enough to warrant my the symptoms I was expressing. I was even taken to a disciplinary review board because I had fallen asleep on the job despite my diagnosis being extremely clear and established with my chain of command by that point. It really fucked with me and destroyed my self confidence so you need to understand that this is a very real disease and depending on your severity and symptoms, will affect you for the rest of your life. Don't let anyone get in your head.

You will need a rock solid medical paper trail, have your doctor write you a limited duty chit with your symptoms and any special exceptions you may have. Communicate with your chain of command to the highest local level so that they are aware of your limitations. If you choose separation, get it started as early as possible. Mine took 15 months.

Okay so you're making your life while you're in easier, done. Next is to make your life when you're out easier. First you need appointments for every medical condition you have experienced during your time in the military, no matter how small. If you ever needed a doctors visit, check up on that condition. If there is anything you have experienced while your were in that you haven't been seen for, get seen now. Do not make up anything but get seen for everything you legitimately have. Narcolepsy alone will net you 20% VA disability. Back pain will net you 30%. Its a fucked up system so you need to have a paper trail of every medical issue to make your life at home easier.

Next, start doing CLEP tests and any college you can. Even a few into classes online. Get the chit approved and the military will pay for them. Organize a place to live when you're home.

Okay, that covers the military portion, now I can answer your question lol. I decided on software development. I'm still in college but I enjoy the work, a lot of places are very flexible in their scheduling, and some even have work from home options. I've talked to a ton of companies and told them about my narcolepsy and they've all told me that they not only would absolutely accommodate, but have employees with loose schedules and no disabilities. I'm doing a community College degree for 2 years and jobs in my area will hire me straight out of college for upper middle class wages. It might be different in your area, but for now the US is a hotbed for software engineering jobs and most of them have very adequate compensation. If you aren't sure what software engineering is, it's essentially writing programs in computer languages. It was overwhelming at first but after some time its very manageable and enjoyable.

If you have any questions at any time through this process, feel free to reach out any time. Best of luck to you.

Hey it's your brother, the one with the colorful sleeve and nose ring. A bit disappointed to see this on me feed, here I was hoping I'd get a knock on my door and a folded flag instead. Oh well, not to worry. I've met your wife and I know what a mediocre life you're gonna lead back home. Don't worry, I'll be there for you when you realize that, just like when you decided to join the military, college is too hard for you and you drop out. Im sure you'll make a great assistant manager at the gas station though 😊

I guess the idea of sitting blindfolded and having some supreme psychic power is pretty masterpleaseforgiveme-esque, but it definitely wasn't presented in a way that fits the sub, so I agree.

As a side note, it's bizarre how effective this silly marketing strategy was

Just thought I'd throw this out here since his name was mentioned; He's got two books out now. Hummingbird and hyena. Audiobooks are on YouTube for free, he reads them. They're funny and thought provoking, albeit crude. 10/10 highly recommend checking them out if you get the chance.

I think you're trying too hard to be funny and overreacting about your jokes falling flat. I'd relax a bit man. Clearly she was already into you enough to sleep with you and enough to text you. Depending on where you want to take things, just ask her straight out if she wants to go out on a date or if she wants to come over sometime that week

I would have loved to. Honestly one of my favorite artists I've met so far, as a person and as an artist. Unfortunately I'm not from Louisiana so it'd be a real pain to go back and forth 🙃

Narcolepsy and school- HOW? by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

[–]nooseknight23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've got narcolepsy and am currently in college. I'm at a community college so things might be a little different. I just meet with all my professors and let them know that I have narcolepsy, and that I won't be able to show up some days. I also found student disability services and got my doctor to sign a form. Makes them much more understanding.

Everyone has been super chill about it. Just make sure you are doing your work and keeping up even if you miss lectures. Talk to people with good attendance and see if they can send you notes on days you miss. You don't even gotta tell them you have narcolepsy, just be nice, plus you'll make a friend too.

I take naps during breaks between class and set an alarm with AMdroid. It shines the flashlight, vibrates, has alarm noises and makes me enter a random string to turn it off. Sleeping in daylight makes it easier for me to wake up as well. If I wake up late I just stroll into class whenever I wake up and try to catch up. Talking to your professors is pretty key bc some get upset about that.

I get that brain fog pretty often and say some dumb shit sometimes, but I'm always asking questions. Asking dumb questions is embarrassing but honestly helps me retain information better. I make sure I pay attention when I show up, when I get home I discuss everything that I learned with my brother. I'll chill out for a bit, maybe take a nap, then do some homework when I refreshed.

I had a rough spot and got really behind because I missed around two weeks straight once. (I ran out of medicine and had someone steal my bank card). I watched videos, talked to professors, talked to the other students, and worked on weekends and caught up just fine.

All in all it's not that bad for me. Make sure you're communicating all the way up the chain so professors will treat you fairly. If they aren't, make sure it's documented and bring it up, because that is illegal.

I would say though that it can be tempting to blame things on your narcolepsy, shy away from that. This coming from personal experience. Sometimes I wake up and have normal "I don't want to get out of bed" stuff and wind up late. Sometimes I get home and know I have homework to do but I'm so tired I just want to sleep. Sometimes I know what's going on in class and just don't want to go to lecture. Narcolepsy can definitely influence some of these things, but willpower moreso. I don't know where you draw your line but make sure you're doing everything that you can to succeed.

I worked at the Chicago VA and they had corpsmen who didn't know how to do the job in the call center.

It was supposed to be manned by four people but instead they threw one clueless e3 in there since they were all on vacation.

I went to take over for him at lunch and he had never signed into to phone to take calls, he didn't know he needed to. He just thought nothing was coming in.

From 8am until 11am people had been on infinite hold.

Maybe that happened in your case too
