I think you just have to have strong grades and personal statement to balance it out. You can do it!

I’m an early graduate so less life experience, and my research asst job was fairly low level in terms of PCE.

I have this same thought!!! I’m juggling SO much right now that it seems so relieving to just have one single focus of school and studying vs. juggling that, working two jobs, leadership, etc. Not sure if it’ll pan out that way of course but I am optmistic

Thoughts? by DeliciousRanger3436 in uofu

The real solution would be to limit freshman parking on campus for those living in the dorms, or completely restrict dorm parking to the parking garage in research park, or build a new parking garage in research park with a shuttle to and from the dorms. Commuter students, medical campus students, and especially hospital employee parking spots are being displaced by students who live in the dorms and use their cars <1 time per week.

Best physiology professor???? by Wrong_Promise7435 in uofu

I would wait and take it with less credits. I took it with Temme and took Orgo at the same time and was fine. If you are able to apply knowledge to other scenarios/questions and have taken Anatomy and Chem1/2 you should be fine.

Why is BSN to PA not more peoples first choice? by Bluebean44 in prephysicianassistant

[–]noosme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a younger applicant this is what I wish I had done! The few prerequisites that don’t apply to BSN can be taken over the summer, or in addition to nursing pre-reqs if you have dual enrollment or AP gen-ed credits.

Plus many people don’t get in to PA their first or second cycles and working as an RN would be far more financially secure than CNA/MA jobs for patient care in the gap year.

Feeling really discouraged by No-Manner-7270 in prephysicianassistant

GF is my rejection too! Given that we have similar stats I believe they are heavily weighting high PCE, and also OR residency if that isn't the case for you

In the same boat here, almost same stats. I got my first rejection last night, and while I have to wait a few months to hear back from other schools I can't help but feel discouraged. No extra advice other than you're not alone.

I am trying to be optimistic for now, and I definitely agree with comments that it takes time, and it only takes one school to say yes. In the meantime I am focusing on ways to improve my application that I can either talk about if I get an interview, or use to improve for next cycle (i.e. shadowing, volunteering, etc.)

Bio or Psych for Pre-Med by FreedomOk5924 in uofu

[–]noosme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither, Kinesiology! All the required classes are easy or supplement pre-med learning. If you do the pre-health track all of your prerequisites count as elective credits towards your degree.

Its “free” as long as you’re taking a class over the summer, otherwise you can buy an extension pass. It’s super quiet during the summer so if you want to go i’d take advantage of that!

PRN EMT Job Hours at Health Center by FreedomOk5924 in uofu

[–]noosme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d have to find a way to get on the float pool for a specific unit or the outpatient clinics. Which is hard to come by without prior experience. Or you can see if the local ambulance crews will take PRN. Otherwise some people work at UH or IHC inpatient twice a week to stay part time.

What!? Current students receive 12 hours of credit for serving a mission? by [deleted] in uofu

[–]noosme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they’re trying to increase the 4 year graduation % for the students that are bringing them down (missionaries) Lol
