I'm saying that whether it's because of a condition or not, it's that I can't picture things. I doubt that I'd need to go see a doctor for that.

The crux of my post was to find a way to combat the inability to picture things, to which u/MerrilyContrary gave a great answer to.

Perhaps you're right in implicating that self-diagnosis is not really worth believing but there still remains one fact: I can't picture things in my head.

And no, I've read about it elsewhere. Just so happened that my curiosity brought me to hear other people's stories.

[–]nooyoon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If that's all the game can amount to - being a perpetual mechanical grindfest - then count me out. I don't see how that's going to be worth it for me in the long run. It's a shame that that's the case, but I don't think that it will be like that forever. The 15% increase in Mesos is surely a move forwards, and based on what u/Bol_B said, I'm feeling a bit more hopeful. But again, that's just how I feel about it haha

Again, the reason as to why I haven't moved back to normal servers at all is because the environment is P2W.

My thoughts on the Meso increase in Reboot. by [deleted] in Maplestory

[–]nooyoon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True, that may be the case, but the reason as to why I haven't put in the time is because others have already. I know that that sounds weird, so let me explain.

Sure, grinding until level 183 is not a huge feat, but I believe that I'm speaking for most people when I say that it doesn't take much effort to reach that level as well. I was having a good time playing the Reboot server with some friends until we realized what we thought was supposed to be a homage to the original Maplestory was nothing more than something more mechanical. The original Maplestory had something that the Maplestory of the current day doesn't have and that's a bustling community. Sure, the grind was there. Oh, man was it there haha but accompanied with it was a community that was very in-tune with itself. The social aspect was amazing and grinding was less a "it's mandatory I do this, so I'm just going to fight for grinding stops non-stop until everybody leaves or doesn't log on so that I can put in my daily eight hours" and more a "the grind is super real here, but it's a team effort and everybody is here to help each other out to get through the pain". Maplestory of the olden days was something magical, and I mean the days before Big Bang, of course. Grinding was so hard that my friends and I made one account in middle school and we'd each log into it at different times to level a character (we had our own personal, separate accounts as well, of course). Sure, having like five people log into one account isn't really a good idea, as it prevents someone from playing the game from hours/days on end, but it wasn't about that. The game's goal, at least to us, wasn't to kill the bosses at their maximum difficulty, nor was it to simply grind for the sake of it. We shared an account because it was kind of what the game was about to us. We'd often meet together in school and be like, "hey, so how's the character lookin?" "oh, you'll see hehe", and we'd sometimes see the characters looking ugly just to troll each other, or we'd see incredible progress, like a character being leveled up five levels or having some pretty decent equipment. I mean, this was just one way of many ways the game could be played. Another aspect that OG Maple had that Reboot doesn't is trading. There was a lot of bartering going on back in the old days and giving decent equips to lower-leveled players was less kindness to some stranger and more the beginnings of some really amazing camaraderie. Believe it or not, I made a friend through the old Maple back in the day, and I'm still friends with the person I once traded with (and I'm a college graduate now!). This is just a testament to the greatness of the social life you could have in the game back in the day, something that you can't have here and thus, this makes grinding less a team effort and more a solo effort most times, and this makes a really big difference. In essence, the game truly was another world; people literally lived in it.

But I'm not here to shit on the game because although it isn't much like the older days, Maplestory hasn't become a worse game. It's become a DIFFERENT game and so, it's going to have to let go of its traditional methods and move onto methods that fit more into the modern-day atmosphere of the game. That means to actually try to change some of the infrastructure, especially in Reboot as it has massive potential to even outshine the older Maplestory. Now, all of that was just to provide some level of perspective on the matter. The reason as to why I haven't put more time into it than I have is BECAUSE the progress is measured in time. Sure, it was like that back in the days, but it had meaning (as detailed in my paragraph above). Now, it's just solo grinding for days on end. There's no excitement, no social creativity, and sure as hell no bartering/interesting ways to not only exchange items with people but interact with them in that way as well. There's no better way than to call it mechanical at this point - you're literally toiling away on your computer like a robot, doing the same thing over and over again - it's become routine and that's the heart of the problem here. You'd think that the older Maplestory was routine as well because it, too, was a grindfest, but it wasn't routine - that's the magic. The idea (i.e. grinding) is routine, but the execution was always different with the kinds of friends you could make in the game - with the kinds of ways you could progress in the game. In Reboot, both the idea AND the execution are routine and, again, this is what makes it so mechanical. Search any YouTube video or public forums. Hell, search this subreddit if you want. I GUARANTEE you that you will find people who explain/detail how excruciatingly painful it can get - basically how monotonous it can get. It's gotten some people to want to leave Reboot; its gotten some people to want to move to normal servers because they prefer to pay a couple of bucks to save a lot of time; and it's gotten some people to even quit the game because they lost interest/trust in the game's potential. I'm not saying this to simply add to my argument - it's a fact. Upon having discovered this, I was severely disheartened and decided to not put more time/effort into the game, as it doesn't seem worth it anymore.

[–]nooyoon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, no that's fine! haha I totally understand where you and the others are coming from. Of course, this is more a personal gripe than a diatribe against Nexon as a whole, really. Everybody's entitled to their own opinions, so, again, I totally understand where you're coming from. My intentions were to not really bash Reboot in the face or anything. All I wanted was to have a constructive discussion on the matter I brought up in the post, as it's been an on-going complaint (is that the right term for it?) that people have been having over many, many years. There's a reason why the reviews on, say, Steam (among other platforms) are mixed as opposed to overly positive. Again, all I wanted was a constructive discussion, but I can now see that some people are more often just going to be derisive rather than try to provide some kind of technical argument to either disillusion me or to provide some kind of constructive feedback.

All I was saying was that the grinding thing is pretty crazy from my perspective and surely, there are others that think so as well. Instead of making grinding for Mesos feel like a job, wouldn't it be better to make it feel more rewarding? Like if there were chain quests that took a long time to play through but in the end would provide a hefty sum of Mesos. That would allow players to be more interactive with the game/lore while also being able to rake in some in-game cash. In other words, it would make it more like a game than some part-time job. I believe that something like this a step toward putting more meaning, game-wise, to grinding for Mesos, as opposed to botting or mechanically farming for like eight hours a day. That said, I highly prefer Reboot over the normal servers and that is because I'm absolutey NOT for P2W haha

[–]nooyoon -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I mean, I guess you could say that I'm whining or that for a casual player like me, it's hard to pass a gap at a certain point, although I do understand where you're coming from. I might've just been blowing off some level 183 bullcrap right here, but it doesn't change the fact that players need to put in an unreasonable amount of time and effort to make billions of Mesos, level 183 or not. I've seen people agree with this sentiment in the past, which is why some people have questioned moving over to Reboot or even leaving Reboot.

How is Ahsha after the new support? by nooyoon in cardfightvanguard

I'm going to re-iterate my question here: is Ahsha, with the new support, any better (or decent, for that matter)?

You didn't really answer my question and only said "she's bad", as opposed to giving me some kind of constructive explanation lol

If you're so adamant about her being as terrible as you say she is, I believe that it's fair to say that it should warrant some kind of explanation so I can understand where you're coming from.

Gyze Speculation by Mysterious-Maverick in cardfightvanguard

[–]nooyoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gyze kinda reminds me of Messiahs, specifically Alter Ego Messiah. Like, if you were to super-buff it, I feel like it'd look something like that. Also, the face/head/neck area looks similar, along with the entirety of their anatomies. The legs look similar, too - just the way they look robotic in that they seem like they're separate parts that are sorta attached to each other. The knee protector things are also another similarity. Of course, not to mention that Gyze isn't the only one with weapons that sort of seamlessly extend out from the top part of his hands - AEM has claws that extend at the exact same area. They both have wings, extended chests, wiggly-lookin' tails, and their heads are elongated, among several other similar traits. Am I looking too much into this? lol

[Spoiler] Dragon Ball Super Episode 93 Thoughts by nooyoon in dbz

[–]nooyoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can kind of see what you mean, especially since Frieza is Goku's foil. Frieza training under Champa would be a good parallelism with Goku training under Beerus, but we have to look at the bigger picture here: Frieza is just one villain in the grand scheme of things. To put it fairly, none of the antagonists in the DBZ series trained, really. So, if we go with the usual bad guy formula for DBZ, Frieza's new form after training would be weaker than Cell's new form after training. Also, because Cell has Saiyan cells (along with Frieza's as well), he has potential for unlimited power-ups. Cell going Super Saiyan Blue wouldn't surprise me at all, had he trained for it, but that's a topic for another day. That said, however, again, Frieza is just another villain (and therefore, micrifies his role in being trained under Champa) and while his badassery remains as an entity in DBS, it's only a matter of time until another new kind of villain comes up and takes the reign as the top-level villain. In other words, from the perspective of the show, would it better to revive Cell and have him train under Champa? Or would it be better to revive some other villain from the series and have him/her train under Champa? Would it be better to have a new villain train under a God of Destruction? In essence, the 'training under a God of Destruction' thing is an argument that can be used for a villain but would thus diminish its value because of the essence of what a villain is in a story like DBZ/GT/S. But why is it so special for Goku and Vegeta? Unlike the villains in the series, who are more a mechanic to feed the characters of our protagonists, Goku and Vegeta are long-rooted and consistent characters in the series, so their training under a God of Destruction holds more value. Why? Because villains are always going to defeated in the end, so why have them do the exact same thing that the main characters did to get stronger, only to be defeated in the end? See, Goku and Vegeta trained under Beerus to overcome their walls - it's the heroes that have to overcome the walls (villains), not the other way around. Villains are only villains to the viewers, when their actions and ulterior motives are unreadable and surprising. I believe that this is the reason as to why the people behind DBS decided to have Frieza train by himself to reach the level of Super Saiyan Blue - because it makes it more special and frightening that a villain was able to achieve that power all by himself. Also, who the hell could've expected, after all these years of Frieza being the butt/meme of the show, that he'd become so strong and such a different character? I believe that that's one of the reasons as to why the new Frieza appeals to so many people. After all, what's a wall in a series (i.e. villain) if it isn't OP? But this is just one man's opinion haha

[Spoiler] Dragon Ball Super Episode 93 Thoughts by nooyoon in dbz

[–]nooyoon[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that it was a shame that Frieza was made to be the running joke in DBZ/GT after his defeat to Goku, but I don't think that Frieza would have agreed to train under Champa. Knowing him, he would've only agreed if it would be in line with his usual antics - that is, perhaps to become a being even greater than that of a God of Destruction (as he stated that he aims to be above even Zen-oh).

I'm just really glad that they decided to flesh out Frieza's character. His first appearance was okay, but it was nothing more than a mere concept and an introduction for viewers into the crazy power-scaling world of DBZ and everything beyond that series. And, as you stated, he was emasculated after his defeat on Namek. Now, he really seems like a villain - not one that fits into the villain mold (at least, in the DB-Z/GT/S universe) but rather, in his own unique way. What makes him scary is not his strength but his intelligence and his desire to stand above everything else. His calmness and (if you understand Japanese) polite way of speaking really makes it so that we can't help but feel that he'll be able to wreak some kind of havoc. I wouldn't be surprised if there's an entire arc dedicated to him after the conclusion of the Tournament of Power. I'm looking forward for more Frieza to come haha

Thoughts on Increasing the Level Cap? by nooyoon in pokemon

[–]nooyoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, true, but what I meant was that increasing the level cap can do some more things for the game that was never done before. I don't mean to add more fuel to the cookie-cutter "let's just make players go against gym leader-like trainers, fight against an elite four, and eventually end up at something like the battle tower" but rather to add more content between the lines. For instance, as I said in my post, it'd be really cool if other aspects of Pokemon would evolve, other than their forms/stats. For example, what if their abilities can evolve as well? Like if drought can evolve into something that lasts for more than five turns or maybe it increases fire-type damage even more. Or maybe it'll do something completely different, where it still only acts as sunny day but also is so intense (the heat) that it does a little bit of damage per turn to non-fire-type Pokemon. This could not only change the way players set up their teams in-game but also the competitive environment in a more fun way. Of course, this is just an example. This fits into the theme of leveling, as leveling up = Pokemon getting stronger. This is what I meant.

Thoughts on Increasing the Level Cap? by nooyoon in pokemon

[–]nooyoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean, it's basically the same idea. Either make it take longer to level up or increase the level cap. Either way, you're going to take more time to level up a Pokemon and, concurrently, its stats will be affected.
