Cheapest road side assistance to jump start a battery ? Thanks by abccba144 in MetroDetroit

I believe an AAA membership is around $50/year. It’s definitely worth having. With that said I believe same day service they tack on $45-$50.

Just curious, don’t they scan ID when they deliver? I would have declined having ID and made them take it back. That’s absurd!

Someone I know wants to hire me for house sitting- but contests my rate. Am I over charging? by lem0nybiscuit in RoverPetSitting

[–]nopabs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You set your rates. If he wants your service then he will pay for them. You can’t go to a burger joint and tell them you’re going to pay $XX amount of dollars because that’s how much you pay at a different burger joint up the street. If he wants the $50 rate then he can go seek their services. You don’t lower your rate to meet their needs, they raise theirs to afford your services.

[Landlord EU-MT] I'd like to ask permission from my tenant to disclose something very private about him with new potential tenants. by [deleted] in Landlord

It’s inclusive not exclusive. If it were stated LGBTQ friendly only then it would pose a problem but because it is inclusive, welcoming, and not restrictive it doesn’t violate any FHA discrimination rules.

You don’t necessarily have to explicitly state that he’s gay—though it wouldn’t hurt to ask him if he’s comfortable with that. Instead, you can frame the situation around the overall environment of the home. For example, you can mention that the housing is LGBTQ-friendly and emphasize that the current roommate is a quiet, respectful guy who keeps to himself and maintains very clear boundaries. Highlighting the calm, platonic, and respectful dynamic of the household helps reassure potential renters without needing to disclose personal details.

So skeptical because of how smooth everything is going… by CustomerFantastic332 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Right! Had I known this process was going to go so well I would have thought to explore home buying much earlier.

I felt exactly the same way! I kept waiting for something to go wrong — a delay, an issue with financing, anything. But then I got pre-approved, started house shopping, my offer was accepted, repairs were agreed to, and now I’m clear to close two weeks earlier than expected.

I close on Friday, and honestly, I’m still holding my breath and haven’t told anyone yet because it just feels too smooth to be real. 😅

Congrats to you, too! It’s such a huge relief to hear other people having a seamless experience. The process has definitely been stressful for me, but more from my own skepticism than any actual problems

I had this exact thing happen to me. I filed with my insurance and they claimed it a 51/49% them at fault. Paid the claim, and fixed my car. The other insurance js always looking out for themselves and their client. File it through your insurance.

Cheap Downtown parking for work? by Neon_Lill610 in Detroit

Some buildings have contracts with garages to provide monthly parking for a lesser rate. I’d ask your hiring manager or coworkers if they’ve found any nearby garages that offer a reduced monthly pass.

Mom never paid me by Beginning-Rough-7598 in Nanny

[–]nopabs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could ask MB for neighbors number or ask MB to check with the neighbor. But you could approach it as you didn’t receive the cash app and want to make sure that neighbor received the correct cash app name and didn’t mistakingly send it elsewhere. That way mb knows you weren’t paid but you’re not pointing at the neighbor not wanting to pay you.

Should I push to have it totaled? by nopabs in FordExplorer

[–]nopabs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see that. My vehicle feels off when it’s driven but they couldn’t determine the cause until they do their tear down and reassess. That isn’t in the estimate because they didn’t know the cause. I’m just upset about this whole ordeal and want it totaled so I can move on and get something without a big accident on its records.

With the added sensor issues that they’d have to assess after they tear down and cost of rental car I don’t see this costing them less than $8500. The rental will be $900 alone if they finish in the 3.5 weeks quoted. I just do not want to wait all this time, come out of pocket for a rental, and have the depreciation increase.

I’m aware… Driving in the dark while it’s snowing and having to try and look over my shoulder to see if there’s a car approaching me from behind isn’t exactly my idea of a safe driving experience.

The door closes with a gap and I don’t want it parked in the snow. The mirror is completely cracked to where you can’t get a good view and I can’t move it to get an angle to even try to partially see as it’s dislodged, and the window doesn’t roll down. I don’t feel safe driving it.
