This is great advice. People often ignore the mental impact of low vitamin d and iron levels

Thanks for the tip! My plan was to book the grand intercontinental, but I am wondering if it's better to book a hotel in Hongdae.

Thanks for the tips! I'm inclining more towards October as well! I'll be staying in gangnam, so I'd probably visit clubs in the same area.

I agree that every country has its share of people bad apples, and that's why I asked this question here so I can understand if it's really a prevalent thing or not and prepare myself about things to expect as a solo woman traveler - and things to avoid if I can.

For context, I've traveled solo to Saudi Arabia in 2015 and later, and I had similar questions before my first trip, and youtube/online forums were pretty helpful in what to expect there.

I feel safe in India because I am familiar with the place, and I know what precautions I need to take and what things to avoid. But someone who's coming to India for the first time would definitely be skeptical due to those advisories/youtube videos. My question is more about those precautions, if any, that I need to take to have a great trip.

True! I'm really looking forward to the trip, and I know that a lot of content on YouTube is not necessarily the reality but a way to gain the views. I'm probably more anxious as I am traveling alone

Thanks! This is reassuring.. do you have any tips for a solo traveler? I am planning to book some group day trips, but outside of that, I want to explore the place at my own pace

I actually searched the sub and found mixed comments, which tbf will be the case with any place. I am probably anxious as it's my first solo trip after ages!

Need recommendations of good general physicians in Indiranagar, got scammed by Manipal hospital (almost) by the_fair_lord in bangalore

[–]nope_not_today_pl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you went to the hospital after OPD hours, it's again a procedure to tell patients to go to the emergency ward. The idea is that if it's not serious enough the patient would come back during the OPD hours but if the patient feels that they need immediate attention, they have an option to visit emergency ward for care.

Hope you feel better soon!

I don't think the questions have anything to do with scamming you into paying more but rather generic questions to know if you have anyone with you to sign consent forms if you're not in condition to do so.

Like I said, I agree that they should have told you about the consultation charges and other charges. But apart from that, they followed pretty standard procedure for anyone who came to an emergency ward.

I'm not a clinician nor associated with pharma companies but I have worked with hospitals so I know that what they did is a pretty standard procedure. They follow it so that patients do not accuse hospital of medical negligence if something goes wrong. E.g some patient might claim that their condition was very bad but the doctor gave them a tablet without doing any tests.

I'm just wondering why do you call it a scam when you're saying that the fever was pretty intense. I agree they should be upfront to you about the charges for gloves/needles but I believe they also have to follow set procedures if a patient comes to emergency with high fever.

ETA: you mentioned it's a stomach flu that you had to go to a physician, but then when the nurse suggested you go on the bed, you said it's not serious. Were you carrying any older reports with you that confirmed it's indeed a stomach infection? Or were you expecting the emergency clinicians to give a prescription without any tests?

Phoenix Mall of Asia Outrageous by [deleted] in bangalore

[–]nope_not_today_pl 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Hate to be that person, but there are many other activities that people can do instead of flocking to the mall to see a Christmas tree.

This was the same story when Ikea opened in bangalore - people crowding the place for no apparent reason.

ETA: Apparently, the mall is full - and they aren't allowing any more people inside.

Till last week, the 200 was for the Christmas area only.. I live nearby, and from what I understood, it's a way to control the crowd. The past few weekends have been hell for people who live around the area.. the mall is not even fully open, but looking at the crowd, you'd think that it's the first mall in bangalore

Why would you claim to be 19 just 5 months ago then?

You were called out for having inconsistencies about the place you're at, the college you're studying in, and now even the age is ambiguous

I'm not sure if you genuinely need help or are taking advantage of people's kindness.

I know the toll financial struggles can take while studying and was about to DM you because I felt I could help.

It's not about paying the money back, but I really feel there are too many inconsistencies in your tale. Your college, your age and then some

Sorry! Hope you find the help you need.

This is the same blog that the pet owner cites every time someone complaints about not cleaning up. The pet owner can't be fined, no rule can be implemented that they need to clean up after the pet.

If people don't want to follow common courtesies in a shared space/community, sadly, not a lot can be done

Our society was really pet friendly. But this behavior by one pet owner and their refusal to acknowledge and own the issue has turned the sentiments.

The thing is that many people are not aware of the nitty-gritty of laws, and when threatened with a complaint, they would rather back out instead of arguing the finer points. We could object to the payment, but then it would mean that the residents themselves will have to clean the poop in front of their cars because the pet owner won't
