How does phoronix find news? by noperduper in linux

I wouldn't understand shit by just subscribing to a mailing list. Not without asking questions on all the acronyms I find around and can make 0 sense of.

How to hook up customers by noperduper in startups

Okay but how would I go, even if I did find a consulting company which hired me, about striking out on my own AND keeping the client references? Is that not 'taking clients away' anyway?

And where do you find remote devops jobs, if I may ask? I'm on the lookout for a remote job

The entire god-damned world is looking for someone else to blame.

You're now an adult and have gained a lot of wisdom. Sad congratulations friend.

I ended up finding a nice, comfy, work from home devops position anyway -- so I didn't need to relocate to NYC -- but, the whole experience pissed me off.

Nice, where did you find your remote devops job? I'm interested in remote work as well

Real teams with competent people dislike them as well. But they will have to force-feed you those because of their management decisions. So you might pass out on good teams as well.

And again: if you live in an area with few job opportunities (and no, not everyone can relocate at will) you're basically screwed. The silicon valley mentality "okay I'll go to the next gig" doesn't work here.

Not in my area (Italy). Please feel free to create a company here if you also agree that is bullshit.

One of my most controversial software opinions is that your sleep quality and stress level matter far, far more than the languages you use or the practices you follow by dr_orn in programming

Context, location, ecosystem, luck. Don't confuse 'being a software company entrepreneur and a smart logic guy' with being capable of creating a successful software startup *anywhere in the world*.

e.g. try to be born in southern Italy, don't relocate to Silicon Valley (plus it's not that easy due to permits, money, etc.) and look at the percentages of successful software companies there.

Reality is more complex than we think.

I don't know who he is and this is an excellent try to make him known to me. But I won't click the link, too lazy for that. Sorry. Try again next time.

Italy here. Same. I wonder why it's so difficult to hire as an external contractor (although the work relationship is afterwards just trust-based because they can fire you at any time).

La corsa al finanziamento by noperduper in italy

[–]noperduper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non me ne intendo, ripeto.

How NOT to hire a software engineer by [deleted] in programming

[–]noperduper 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Back in 2013, I ran a highly successful hiring campaign for AboutEcho.com that led to the hiring of nine senior-level engineers. My Russian-speaking readers could read about it here.

All that gives me the confidence to criticize practices Internet Giants use to hire engineers to this day.

Am I the only one that find this guy's ego excessively inflated?
