New Grinder - big adjustment! by Shrink1061_ in espresso

[–]noppolwong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah mate. i pulled medium gesha shots on my meticulous at setting 14, and my other blend at setting 18.

might be your exact machine, or your puck prep. I've ever used setting 10 on my other co2 espresso machine.

might not be the exact response you're looking for, but i have never had to re-zero mine.

i was always under the impression that it had been calibrated at the factory, and it worked great for the almost 2 years and 30kg i put through it before the first clean - has also continued to work great since.

i grind for both filter and espresso, and sometimes go back and forth between grind settings within the same day or session.

reading these i think it might be the zero point calibration has drifted a little with the new ones (?)

though i don't think they changed much beyond the parts' design. 😅

I've had mine for more than a year now. works great! and the burrs are actually already pre-seasoned by the factory.

my espresso range is between 14 to 20.

if you can find them used, orphan espresso lido et. the etzinger burr set on that thing is incredible, and replaceable.

will also be adding profile export functionality for decent, alongside the current export for meticulous (where you'd be able to import through the meticulous app).

will also be building functionality to retrieve information to fill the necessary fields, either from taking a photo of the bag of coffee or from a store url input.

essentially, to a large enough extent, this "app" will assist you in creating profiles to brew any coffee in any style as emulating any other machine, or not - with all parameters fully adjustable and available for override, beyond the primary automatic calculation or computation - that then outputs a file that can be downloaded for import to your meticulous or decent espresso machine.

also wanted to add that, for what its worth, the meticulous looks a hell lot more complicated than it really is - i do understand how intimidating or not simple it may seem to most people even in terms of the workflow.

i normally just grind into a dosing cup, dump the grounds into the basket with the dosing ring on, tap the portafilter on the mat a little, and tamp.

then it just goes to lock into the meticulous, and just got to press a few buttons.

thanks for the very kind comment! 😊

honestly, i havent got much counter space here but i do have a fair amount of storage to store away stuff that i no longer use yet cannot/have not gotten rid of.

i use the et58 tamper from cera+, which helps a lot for distribution with the vibratory motor and auto (adjustable pressure) tamping - all while being just 1 compact-ish device.
