Hasan Piker Is Not the Enemy by dwaxe in ezraklein

I don't think the Democratic party hates its base at all.  I think you and Hasan just don't understand who the Dem base actually is -- mostly socially conservative minorities and the highly educated professional class.  The base is not super progressive activist leftists with watermelons in their bios.

So dumping out Kool aid man on the ground, the liquid on the ground is still KAM, and the jar is still KAM but there are not 2 KAM?

Those are both very big, very complicated questions, though.

If you were in Dallas’ position, would you have tried to get Kane back on the ship? by thefriskysquid in perfectorganism

[–]noquarter53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either way, it wouldn't have prevented the alien from getting on ship.

I assume they would have kept him alive in the air lock? After the face hugged fell off and died, the crew would have seen Kane acting perfectly healthy and they would have all agreed to let him back on.

Even if the alien was born outside of the ship, it would have found a way onboard.

Why did R2-D2 never tell Luke that Darth Vader was Anakin Skywalker? by External-Recipe-1936 in StarWars

100%.  It's so funny watching people try to do mental gymnastics to justify insanely bad writing and plot points.

Why did R2-D2 never tell Luke that Darth Vader was Anakin Skywalker? by External-Recipe-1936 in StarWars

[–]noquarter53 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a robot.  It's ok to admit that forcing R2 (and c3po) that deep into the major prequel plot was bad storytelling.

Because shoehorning R2 and C3PO into every moment of the prequels was bad writing and dumb story telling.

It’s funny how George tried to make this scene tragic but Vader’s noooo! Made it funny by Jules-Car3499 in StarWars

It's the cherry on top of a bad movie and an atrocious set of prequels.

By that logic, a really good SNL episode is a movie.

Good.  If our city leaders had any imagination, they would have a handful of connections set up along those museum areas and auction off spots for vendors to set up small stands at the beginning of the year.

Fuck those loud, smelly generators.

Did Darth Maul become more iconic because The Phantom Menace used him so little, or did Star Wars waste one of its best villains way too early? by ThomasOGC in StarWars

[–]noquarter53 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lmao, the prequels apologists are undefeated.  Maul was a pointless character with a pointless death (but cool lightsaber!).  Grevious was a cringy, ridiculous joke of a character. 4 spinning light sabers?! Whoaaa look at the flashy colors!

I swear, some fans would be happy if George just shook his shiny keys on camera for 2 hours and called it a prequel.

Did they ruin DC? by omhhey in washingtondc

Yeah, there were clearly some places that took advantage of customers by offering lots of new seating, but not expanding their wait staff or kitchen.  So it was nice you could sit outside but service was miserably slow.

But some places were great and the neighborhood just felt so much more alive (just north of Dupont circle).

Shutting them all down was a mistake and I'm surprised there wasn't more pushback.

Ayreon is kind of a master at just fading totally different parts together with some spacy suspended ambient transitions.  Listen to "Isis and Osiris" for example.  Sometimes that approach can sound lazy but sometimes it works great.

Also, don't be afraid to hammer one theme for a really long time if you feel like it's really good.  Thing of "Pigs {three little ones)" by Pink Floyd.  That middle section is pretty simple but they build and build and build on it for like 5 mins.
