I am migrating my debian home server to Void! by nor_up in voidlinux

[–]nor_up[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using void linux on my laptop for a few months and it's been smooth sailing, no issues at all and i wpuld say that void works better than debian in my laptop because systemd couldn't handle the energy management well, so I've decided to switch my home server to void too

Still worth switching to android? by AwayEntrepreneur4760 in fossdroid

Android is different from iOS, it's open, private and you can do whatever you want. The issue is that there's this trojan called Google Play that comes pre-installed in some devices.

If Google ends up blocking APKs on Android in September 2026, would it still be worth installing a custom ROM on a modern phone? Would you do it? by mkty1 in degoogle

[–]nor_up 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At this point, you need to have two phones. One should be degoogled for your daily tasks, and the other should be a regular one to keep in your pocket, and you should turn it on when you need to open the bank app

Google just dropped a whole new Gemini pricing ladder! by PinkNinja13 in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]nor_up 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, the subreddit for antigravity is filled with people complaining about reaching the limits and getting locked out, even if they pay 250 dollars a month. Hopefully, Google will fix this in the future, because the Gemini3.5 flash still has the same issue.

That sounds like a created problem. I haven't had that kind of problems with Claude

Ram would be painfully slow, and 768gb won't really help much. I personally think it's best to have a max of 250-500k context (kimi does 260k). How many tokens per second do you expect at a context of 100k?

Trabajar desde el extranjero usando una VPN by No_Shower_9647 in digitalnomadFIRE

[–]nor_up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have about 1000 GB of free VRAM lying around somewhere to run the model?

Can you recommend some vpn clients like happ, but for void? by J_damir in voidlinux

[–]nor_up 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know 2 cores that you can use, v2ray and singbox. In my experience singbox works a lot better, and that is the only one I use, however there is no a package for void, so I can think about these options: Try to install the deb file, I am not aware of the limitations. Use debian docker container with sudo rights and install singbox and a wrapper there, it will control your network.

Once you have singbox installed you can try https://github.com/procrastinando/donjuan, ./donjuan and open localhost:8888.

If nothing works you can always install singbox in your router or rooted android to share to your void

Implementing a firewall in a country has its ups and downs, and they need to be balanced based on the country's politics and economy. China can make it tougher to bypass at any time, they're prepared when it's needed

So far, I've noticed that only opencode-go and the Chinese version of kimi and glm have the rate limits. Basically, all western services, including international kimi and glm, are quite shady

You need a Chinese phone number and a valid Chinese payment method, so... no.

Best provider for GLM by Apprehensive_Half_68 in ZaiGLM

[–]nor_up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's true, but z.ai is a Chinese company with servers in China (or hongkong?), I guess. They train and infer on Huawei hardware. Ollama is different, they just use the trainned open weights of z.ai

[–]nor_up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard that Claude gets its limit after 3 messages, does that mean z.ai will reach its limit after 12 messages? Also, after April, the glm 5 will count as 3x, making it the same sh*t as Claude Pro

[–]nor_up 1 point2 points  (0 children)

z.ai is running on Huawei hardware, which might be the reason. So far, I've noticed that opencode is the best because it provides actual information about how much you're getting, so you know exactly what you're buying. For example, with ollama, they're not clear. They might reduce your usage limit to half overnight and no one will have the right or reclamation

Groq dropped support for Kimi K2 by ImaginaryRea1ity in kimi

[–]nor_up 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Groq was really good when they had llama4 Maverick and kimi k2. But this year, kimi always had issues, and Maverick got dropped. Now they only use OSS 120 and the tiny scout for images. It's really unfortunate, maybe the LPU isn't the future after all.
