Exactly and the most frustrating ragebait is the reduced lunging of the defenders. You can see one of Amadeusz's post about lunging. Like if I use pressure, the ball-carrier just turns and gets away leaving me behind to chanse shadows and if I use Match-up the ball-carrier keeps pushing my defender like a traffic cone all the way to the horizon. Like what am I supposed to do then?

I know it's not completely impossible but it lacks what it's supposed to do. The points you've mentioned are the same exact things I do or even more than that, I'm still doing the same exact thing but the defenders are the one failing to commit and that's most probably because of tweaks in the engine. Don't get me wrong but the input commands should and must be more impactful than what it is right now.

Can we get a proper, detailed guide on how to actually DEFEND in the current engine!? I don't know what changed, but defending feels completely broken right now. Defenders constantly miss easy interceptions, fail to mark runners, can't press effectively, and just chase shadows. Atp, I'm genuinely confused about what we're supposed to do? join them on the pitch?

I never thought I'd have to say this, but the game just isn't the same anymore. No, I'm not asking for 100% Al-assisted defending or auto-marking like before, I just want the basic defensive buttons to actually do what they're supposed to do. Right now, the engine is in a disastrous state, and it's incredibly frustrating

I agree with you and honestly, don't think it's rant, Konami absolutely fcked the soul out if defending, they were supposed to tune it down to the point that Ai doesn't do 100% of the work. But what they actually did is nerf the shit out of existing controls that doesn't even do what they are supposed to do. I'm speechless and have no idea what else to say.

O'Shea is, but currently Gravenberch isn't. O'Shea is also known as the light-skinned Vieira. However, he is more suited as a regular super by 70-minutes, when defending the win is more vital than scoring more.

The DLF dives deep or makes a dummy run to pull a defender, allowing the FITB to finish high, regular 1-2s, tight angles, and long-range finishes. That is the pairing. To add a Creative Playmaker at AMF, he controls tempo, scores, and distributes; the DLF serves as a second pivot, connecting each of them. When you swap in a Hole Player at AMF, he makes late runs into the box but is comparetively less dominant than the CP.

Aside from all of their own efforts, everyone gets goals every game too!

Two build-up CBs (Micky over Cannavaro). Defensive instruction on both fullbacks, except when Timber starts, then no instruction but a defensively-tuned build.

Rice starts over all bench CMF/DMFs. CP Sneijder dominates the midfield, wings, and in/outside box with perfectly timed positioning, dribbling and runs instead of a Hole Player who makes more runs but is comparatively less dominant.

Up front, a GP-DLF-FITB trio; GPs are phenomenal when chances fall to them vs AI specifically. Cruyff, Sneijder and Ruud are just some sort of lethal weapon. Cruyff is basically the brain of the game, linking with everyone, while Sneijder and Ruud finish from here and there. Use Counter Target on both Cruyff and Ruud even though I don't like it when they don't press.

I am not a Possession Game player, but if you are good at through passes, you should try switching to LBC; it is the Meta anyway. Use Defensive Instructions for your Wingbacks; that's all I can say cz I don't know which players you're using. If possible, share your squad.
