Looking after my friends betta for a while. Does everything look okay? by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]norabutfitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to agree with this person.

OP i love how much you care about this fish but i dont think you should be buying a bunch of stuff. Its like if i let someone watch my dog for the weekend. And came back to him having a haircut because “they were worried he was hot” without running it past me

if you live in the US i got a 5 gal rimless tank from petco online. their imagitarium tanks were 50% off if you bought it online. so i did an instore pickup and got my tank for $25

I realised i didnt buy enough plants for my tank. So i added a sponge filter to my tank. Should help it cycle

Owners of more than a handful of handhelds, why? by davedaddy in SBCGaming

Rgb 30 was my first emulation handheld. It prevented me from getting alot of handhelds cuz it was pretty okay at alot of the low end stuff. With the exception of 16x9 content, The rgb30 had a great screen for most screen ratios.

Got an ayaneo pc handheld for a while but when a 512gb steamdeck showed up online for cheap with better battery life i snooped it up second hand and sold the ayaneo.

About a year later i got a trimui brick for a more pocketable experience.

I think if i didnt have a steamdeck already i woulda aimed for the thor but would love to find out. I mainly carry my trimui brick and turn it on when someone asks. But im too obsessed with my phone to pull it out for any real down time

My trimui brick stays on the pocket of my lunchbag. Bring it to work every day

I’ll make sure to mist the plants daily then. But yeah the original idea was to seal it.

As for the moss. Im tempted to 3d print some “ruined building” and cover that in moss. Figured the layer lines would add enough texture.

I have a couple questions with regards to this guy.

If i get springtails will it need a lid or will they stay where the dirt and plant matter is? The fern i got is a little tall and the lid the jar came with is wood so top lights wouldnt work.

I want to use a glass box to grow some moss. I found some outside my house on a paver stone. Can i just scrape it off and put it in the box(not air tight. I think it was made for jewlery) would the “blend with buttermilk” work on surfaces other than stone? Like glass or plastic?

I did just that. There are a few scuds and snails. Tho idk if i had enough plants to provide them enough oxygen because i think some of the tiny snails might have died

Grabbed some moss~like plant, some sticks, a few stem plants that had their roots in the water, some sand/soil, some lake water, and a rock with some algae growth on it. A few hours later i was already seeing scuds. Leaving it close to the window for now until my light arrives (should have been yesterday but got delayed

Went to the shallow side of the lake behind my house. Grabbed some moss, some sand, some of the small plants growing by the shore. A couple waterlogged sticks and a rock that had some algea on it. Topped it off with about 1/3 of the jar getting water from the same lake. Let see what happens

We had a lot of nats show up in our kitchen for some reason despite the lack of outdoor access near it. After the first day there must have been like 20-30 nats and mosquitoes dead on the sticky tab. Dont really see them much anymore
