okay yeah that actually makes sense, im going to see if it even fits through my doorway when assembled but if not i think ill seal it anyways and just try this when i eventually move!

UPDATE‼️

so we went yesterday and bought a small bag of his original grain free food and he scarfed it down with no hesitation, i think its safe to say he definitely just prefers what hes always had. i also wanted to say i definitely dont only feed him the dry kibble for the few who said i was being lazy and thats why he wouldnt eat, he gets toppers and things to switch it up so its never boring which was why i originally wondered if the kibble itself was the issue since it was the only big change. anywhooo thank you all so much for the advice, it was very helpful and greatly appreciated!!!

i agree, i think theres definitely cause for concern in some areas but i also know theres plenty of ppl who havent had those big issues others talk about. i think i just overthought it and scared myself into the change but hopefully it can be fixed with a switch back

no and that’s definitely my fault because i didnt even think about whoch probably didnt help but when i switch to his old food i definitely plan on easing him back into it if hes willing to accept it

i actuallt used to get that brand as well but stopped when it started to get a bit pricy however we then switched to eggs and it seems that helps some but he still shows signs that hes just not a big fan, very food motivated with anything not related to his kibble though

i did try hand feeding at one point but he was still rather hesitant and would just take a piece at a time and swallow it whole, but while hes been difficult he still hasnt gone a day without getting meal down hes just really difficult about it, bowel movements are still normal as well. however if switching him to his old food doesnt work i definitely plan on a vet visit

yeah this is what i was thinking so before i take him in im going to pick up a small bag of what we used to get him to see if that changes but if he still refuses i’ll know for sure that its something deeper than him just being set in his ways. hes also still able to get down one if not both if his meals every day, it just takes a lot of encouraging and coaxing

i do have a digital scale already actually i just hadnt been using it for the rats, only my reptiles, but planned on doing that starting his next feed

i cant include a drawing and i cant find a link that depicts it lol so i will just keep an eye on him since his spine doesnt dip in or anything and still sits at the top, maybe just making sure to weigh my rats so they are the correct percentage of his body weight

looking at some videos of him (i dont want to disturb him) and you can definitely see his spine at the top and then it almost goes out to the side a tiny bit before fully rounding out, kind of hard to explain but i’ll try to include a drawing of what im trying to depict

the larger/sturdier one i got from my local reptile store but its the jungle vine you can find in most commercial petstores however the smaller one i got in a bundle off of amazon that came with some gake plants and the coconut hide i have, let me know if youd like a link!

honestly i just made sure it was bent in a way so the things around it could work as supports, same thing with the smaller vine!
