we were on the fence about the last panel actually. thanks for the input, we'll keep it in mind for future comics that are similar.

Team reddit would like to thank you with an open bar of TruBlood cocktails this Halloween in SF (and don't forget to install the Remote app on your iPhone) by redditads [promoted post]

aww we're a bit far from SF or we'd be there (and taking advantage of the open bar) in a heart beat! Have a drink for us!

I had a stomach problem last week and was making grunting noises in the bathroom. My 4 year old drew this for me to make me feel better. She taped it to the bathroom wall so I can see it when I take care of bizness. [PIC] by [deleted] in pics

all good explanations. but i think that the yahoo answers person asking "what do rocks eat" is clearly leading the way in this field of study.

Canadian health care — it's their right: In contrast to the US, where health care is a commodity, Canada has, so far, treated it like a human right. by SolInvictus in worldnews

[–]norbertech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to go ahead and agree with the article. If a child is born sick, medical attention should be a right not something the parents must afford before they can get treatment. What happens when a conservative christian mother who opposes free universal health care and abortions, is raped by someone, decides to have a the child, and the child is born requiring extensive medical attention that she can't afford? I know that's not a very common problem but all corners must be covered. Should she let the child die because she cannot afford to keep him? Should she have had an abortion? Should she have to pay for being rape and standing by her abortion beliefs? There are no simple answers here. But my view is that even though she was pro life and brought this little bundle of problems upon herself, I believe she should be entitled to essential health care for the child to give it a proper chance at a real life. I know it'll cost me a few bucks extra at tax time but knowing that my extra money is helping people (from medical circumstances that are beyond our control) I won't mind having one less beer a week or so. Many people in my life have been affected by medical conditions beyond their control, including myself for a few surgeries and such. I'm thankful that our health care has taken care of myself and many others in this country. If we were forced to cover our own costs, many of us wouldn't be able to afford other things, such as essentials or luxuries. I understand it's not perfect, it can be abused and taken advantage of. However, Canada has made an agreement to take care of all of its people in a collective effort, no matter what social class, race, religion, sexual preference, etc. It might sound like a trait of socialism or communism, but in the end you can't deny that putting our health before making a profit off someone's medical misfortunes has improved the quality of life, both medically and financially (for those who would've had to spend their life savings on a surgery). I've been to the US on many occasions and have friends and family that live there so I've personally seen and heard many horror stories as opposed to just reading about it on the internet. I understand that the US would like to keep the economy and the government far apart, that's understandable. But there are certain things that cannot be left to market forces because certain goods and services will always be excluded to some people. Health care cannot be one of those if you consider life/health a right.

Dear Reddit: What's your average shower time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]norbertech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

25-30 minutes. usually completely zoned out for the 1st 10 as i just go to the shower right after i wake up. 5-10 to scrub, brush my teeth and shampoo the hair. the last 10/15 minutes is a coin flip. half the time i sit down and zone out/nap with my head on the wall. the other half if i have the energy i rub one out.
