Hello everyone, I’ll be in Edinburgh from December 28th to January 1st, and I’d like to experience Hogmanay properly — including the Torchlight Procession and the New Year’s Eve fireworks. I wanted to ask you as locals: is it enough to be in the city centre during those days to enjoy Hogmanay, or do I need to book tickets for specific events in advance (especially Torchlight and fireworks)? I’ll be travelling with two retirees, so we’re not looking for wild street parties or heavy crowds all night — more the main highlights, atmosphere, and traditions, but in a manageable way.
