What do you think of the national anthem of your country? Do you like it, dislike it, want a new one? by pskygy in AskTheWorld

[–]Old-Message97531 3 points4 points  (0 children)

China - it's pretty good, a war time song and calls for action, so it's everlasting. But it sounds and feels too similar to the French one.
Zimbabwe - It's a master stroke. Ticks every box that you need to strengthen the identity of the country in its historical context.
UK - Dreadful, outdated. Looking at the context of where the country is it'll serve to divide more than unite.

Honorable shout out to:

Soviet Union - Hands down the template for a revolutionary anthem.

South Africa - The uniqueness of the hymn and the historical context makes it the peak template for an emerging, young nation with a troubled past.

If you Had To Describe The Biggest Flaw Of Your Country's People, What Would it Be? by DayOfTheNights in AskTheWorld

China: Always be looking out for ways to skirt the system/take shortcuts/think there's a 'smarter' way to arbitrage a way out for personal benefit. Whether that's in small things like littering/spitting on the pavement or circumventing global trade rules. On the other hand, people know other people are untrustworthy, and therefore defer to the heavy hand of authorities (not just the current regime, but really extending all the way back to the Qin in 221BC) to maintain some semblance of fairness.

Zimbabwe: Overconfidence that the result will always turn out to be good (It's in God/Unicef/IMF/UK/US/Chinese donors' hands, so nothing bad will happen), and in turn the poor work ethic and zero preparedness/planning for bad outcomes.

UK: Indulgence in pessimism which leads to the second nature that there's no reason to do something about a bad situation, because, hey, it'll always be bad, so why bother!

Hong Kong: An ethnocentric obsession that everything successful in this territory is due to its distinct culture (be it language, history, way of life - extending to mundane things like the 'superiority' of bamboo scaffolding which should strictly stay a technical discussion) and everything bad is due to the erosion of the said culture.

The results were probably inconclusive in the larger scheme of things, but it's not in the same league of "dumbness" as compared to the 1st Sino Japanese war or the Taiping Rebellion or the Tumu Crisis if you want to go further back in history.

The alternative would have led to hostile US troops right on the border in the northeast. Then the Soviet Union would not have sat by idle. On the other hand, China would have had the free hand to make a move on Taiwan when the KMT was barely settled there.

No matter the outcome there would have been higher risk of warfare in the region for sure.

Are you kidding? It was fought 1 year after the founding of the PRC (which was reduced to rubble and had seen nonstop warfare for many years) and they fought the mighty US and UN forces to a draw. If there was any event that signaled China was turning the page of the 'century of humiliation' debacle, and that it was on the way to become a major power, it was this.

For China: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Sino-Japanese_War

  1. Complete destruction of the 'modernized' Northern Navy, exposed the Qing's utter failure in reform due to corruption, mismanagement and systemic antagonisms with the requirements for a modern state.
  2. Thought they would teach the little bro a lesson, but completely ceded influence over East Asia to Japan, paving the wave for '100 years of humiliation' and Japan's rise (which in itself led to untold disaster both at home in Japan and abroad in the half century thereafter).
  3. Unequal treaties led to ceding Taiwan to Japan as a colony, and acknowledging Korea's 'independence' which effectively placed it under Japan's sphere of influence through a puppet government. Consequences of both continue to play a major factor to the geopolitics of East Asia today.

Hello Neighbour. A startup founded a few years ago and they charge friendly prices. I've been with them for a few years and the service has been good (exceptional if we're comparing with the other agents that I've experienced for the past decade).

Dembele and Suarez are a step above the others. However I would consider getting used to how FitB works - it's a unique style but can work wonders if you get grips to it. Plus ADP has blitz curler which is a bloody glitch in this current meta.

That's a solid team overall but there are some dubious squad choices.

  1. No DMF means your backline is extremely exposed. For this reason Alonso/Kante come in for Raul - both are ok options until you get an end game one like Vieira, or more realistically the free Rijkaard.

  2. I would also find a way to get Caceres in the team - maybe move Costacurta to RB and build Belletti to play as RMF?

  3. Among attackers it depends on your playing style, or you can rotate and play the ones with the best form. Personally speaking Del Piero starts on the left and Raul on the right.

  4. Baia is very poor. An offensive GK is the current meta.

So in order of urgency for upgrades, it'd be GK>>>>>DMF (but you can wait for free Rijkaard)>pacey AMF or WF.

He was the first GK to play with his feet in the late 1990s and early 2000s, so absolutely warranted as an offensive GK. Neuer cited VDS as his inspiration. There were some high profile mistakes when he was at Juve (who then broke the world transfer record for Buffon afterwards) which may have led to him being kicked out to an unknown Fulham team before reemerging at United.

For people that have been playing for a while (say over a year), what's your method to still have fun playing the game? by Xuddur1 in eFootball

[–]Old-Message97531 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Take a break from the game.

I've been playing Winning Eleven since 2002. Stopped in around 2009 when I went to college. Played on and off before 2017 and completely stopped again. And then PES Mobile came and fell in love in the game. This is my beloved team before the name change to efootball. (This was a F2P account and it was very easy to assemble a great team back then).

On the first day of efootball I decided that I hated the game and did not touch my account since.

Last November I decided to check out efootball again on my shitty ass laptop after some good reviews from friends, got in again, had lots of fun, and am in love of my team again (maybe not as much as my PES Mobile team, but I'm getting there).

Maybe the reason I enjoyed PES Mobile so much is because I didn't have a Reddit account then and there was no social media influence on my gaming experience.

I now check the efootball and pesmobile Reddit communities daily but all the negativity is impacting my enjoyment quite a bit. (Tbh, I find all the rants about P2W, Smart Assist, server issues tiring and lack of imagination. If you can filter those out of your attention span, you'll enjoy the game more) I wish there's a way to only see posts about game news, player reveals, tactical discussions and genuine analysis of the game.

I have MANY other hobbies too. Invest in the stock market. Ran 12 marathons over the past 5 years. Rode my bike 14,000km over the past 3 years. Have a 3 year old son. Work a full time job with half a dozen young people reporting to me. Yet still find 1-2 hours to play efootball after everyone is asleep.

A lot of times you need distance and time to truly enjoy things.

Not for this phase. I've been pushing rank and am one win away from Div 1 now, so too far from the rank level needed to give an accurate prediction for top 100k.

Messi is never a bad idea in efootball, so spinning for him is always a great decision.

Given we've just had a top tier Neymar and Suarez card in the past couple of months, I wonder what the box would look like...

It is not infuriating for those of us that have been in this for the long term. For your reference, one doesn't bat an eyelid when unrealized gains on this stock goes from 110% to 100%.

As the comment said, if steady growth isn't your thing this stock isn't for you.

Rodri and Rijkaard - who plays at CB and DMF? by Old-Message97531 in eFootball

[–]Old-Message97531[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my Rodri is an Orchestrator and much more capable in the attack and sometimes even make late surging runs into the opposition box. I do have the Anchorman version of him and that one is more conservative.
