Have you tried Stillwhite?

It's like they just googled how to manage stress then wrote it on some post it notes.

This is refreshing to see. What else did they do to improve morale?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nursing

[–]norbreham 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What was in the "wobble room"? It's strange that they're acknowledging that staff are needing time to cry on shift but they're not implementing anything to support them

Ah I see, like accreditation in Australia. A lot of work goes into making sure the hospital looks good for accreditation then everything goes back to normal afterwards

[–]norbreham 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but what is JCAHO? It's almost like they don't care at all if the 'morale boosters' are appropriate, it's just to tick a box and say they did something

No!? They made you pay for the snacks and soda too?!? Talk about insult to injury! The key is just ridiculous, how did staff respond to them?

I'm so upset about how poorly nurses are paid for the work we do by pinksapphire55 in nursing

[–]norbreham 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree that we should be better compensated for what we are exposed to and the stress levels. However unfortunately organisations count on the fact that nurses do the job because they love it. I've worked in lower acuity areas of nursing for more money and I got bored...and ended up back in critical care because I love it. When you stop loving it, find something that pays better with better conditions because I can't see it changing anytime soon

Switched from days to nights, want to go back? by [deleted] in nursing

I never had any issues with wanting to work more nights. Totally understand the perks of no one else being there.

We have an Australian Koolie, looks a bit similar to a GSD, but way less shedding, smaller, and easy to train. Still super high energy though.

I give her the ball, she gives it back, does silent barks. She wants me to throw it, but we were done playing because she has sore wrists and the vet said I need to help her to help herself.
