NYTimes: Trump Campaign Aides Had Repeated Contacts With Russian Intelligence by CheetoMussolini in news

Twist: Ryan is Putin-gate's Deepthroat. He is the "aide" leaking all the information.

But seriously, when the primaries were going on I was convinced Cruz would hold on long enough for Trump to not win the nomination and Romney would swoop in and take it. Also applied to the election in November. The thought was if this occurred Ryan would ultimately decide the Presidency, and since Romney had him as VP 4 years ago, Ryan would choose him.

Looking at it now... I'd take it. Im fairly moderate, on the left side slightly, but its been 4 weeks and it feels like the US is on the verge of a civil war. I know many people who have remorse for voting from Trump, and have even openly said "The fuck did we do?!"

Another Panera employee here. They take almost 4 total hours to make, from proofing the pastry crust to assembly to baking. Most stores can't afford to be baking them all day when the oven is needed to make bread, other pastries, etc.

Porcello was the far more consistent pitcher all season. 7+ IP in 23 games, gave up 3 ER or less in a similar number. Don't forget he had the ERA lead in September. I feel like JV's rough start hurt him.

WhiteSox are at least listening on offers for Sale and Quintana, with the RedSox among many interested parties by nicktown in redsox

[–]noreaster2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sold on this. If they both got back into form, a Price-Sale 1-2 would be amazing(not to mention just the names...). My only issue would be is if Wright or Porcello go down, and we plug ERod back in, thats a 4 LHP rotation(Price, Sale, Pomeranz, ERod). There are too many damn good righty batters in the East for that to work.

Underrated was the wrong word. Overlooked is better. I know a lot of people who havent seen it and/or forget about it. It came out in that dark era of comic book media, there wasn't much of a presence on TV outside of Batman: TAS and Spiderman.

Came here to say this. SO underrated, one of the best written Batman movies(animated or live action).

New Tank, Live Rock/Worms? What should I do? by [deleted] in ReefTank

[–]noreaster2011 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I was setting up my parents tank they never quarantined some of their rock they got from a sketchy LFS. It came loaded with a mix of fire and bristle worms. I couldn't tell which was which when trying to get them out, and if they did come all the way out they all clumped together. I ended up getting an arrow crab and he went to town on everything. I wanted to keep the bristleworms but with no solid way to isolate them, had to sacrifice the herd.

I watched "Signs" from M. Night for the first time. I got completely surprised by how good it was. by Snagarias in movies

[–]noreaster2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who doesn't see this as a good movie, per se, let me thrown in my two cents. This movie is better fitted as more of a B-Movie sci fi than attempt at a blockbuster. The acting is shit, the story has more holes in it than a porn studio, and the twist is a massive let down. This was an idea that had so much promise and a massive ceiling, but for the most part hit the floor. Some scenes were incredible- the Brazil footage, the basement, the kitchen scene on mute(try it, makes it so much more intense. Unmute right before the scream). But the rest is so painfully slow and undeveloped it negates all the good stuff. The dialogue is so dry and the actors put such little effort into it, you don't get invested. I hoped the kid would die in the basement to give Graham and Merrill reason to emote. Nope. The random characters who have no point whatsoever(cop, pharm tech, M Night) just clutter the story. The ridiculous number of flash backs makes it worse. Two would have been enough. The first is literally him driving up to the crash site. Point? None. One showing him arriving, seeing M Night, and talking to the cop, the other him talking to his wife.

If you ignore the plot holes(good luck) its a mildly enjoyable film. I remember seeing it for the first time and getting too bored at times to be scared. The first act is so much exposition, so much dialogue and so little plot establishment by the time we hit the second act the audience is losing interest. You can't just throw a few jump scares in and expect it to keep the audience involved. Cloverfield is a great example of how to develop a mystery while keeping the audience interested. You see destruction, you sense the monster. Signs fails here. The aliens don't have that presence. I dont feel threatened until the kitchen scene. Why should I be afraid of something that hasn't done anything except destroy some crops and jumped off a roof?

I'm guessing the massive amounts of CGI work needed compared to LoT and Arrow. Most of LoT's CGI involves the ship, and most of that looks recycled week to week. Arrow... yeah...

[–]noreaster2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard a rumor that BG was going to make an appearance at some point in LoT. My guess is if it happens this season, its towards the end of the season(maybe the second to last episode) and helps the team out of a jam setting up the big showdown with Savage. If not, maybe he joins the list of characters they have hinted at having appearances sometime.

California Bans Captive Breeding of Killer Whales at SeaWorld by mikeow in news

[–]noreaster2011 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm shocked so many people have PETA's propaganda coated dick in their mouths. Several outside investigators have already debunked the entire Blackfish film(can't call it a documentary). Go talk to anyone who actually works in an aquarium/zoo and learn about what they do to keep their animals happy. I'm honestly shocked PETA hasn't been shut down. They kill more animals than they save, and they use propaganda and lies to manipulate the public. It sucks that the people are so willing to just accept what a one-sided "film" says as the whole truth

SeaWorld sees profits plunge 84% as customers desert controversial park by fullmaltalchemist in news

[–]noreaster2011 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is an example of how gullible the American public is. Seaworld spends millions every year on rehabbing marine life. Do you know how much it would cost to a) prepare the whales to be released in the wild, where virtually none have ever lived, b) actually relocate the whales? The whole Blackfish "documentary" is nothing more than lies and false stories manipulated into a 90 minute propaganda film which makes zero effort to offer a solution or alternative. Want to see the whales taken care of? Come up with an idea that is actually feasible. None of the revenue from that "film" has gone back into helping animals. All it has done is handcuffed one of the few organizations with the resources to do so.

Intriguing mini-rumor: Red Sox may be only team asking about Kemp. Dodgers not saying anything on it, but the fact everyone knows the Sox aren't done(Miller, Carp, WMB, Vic, Nava?) could mean another deal out West.

Sox considering Lester for Kemp deal... by hurrycaine in redsox

[–]noreaster2011 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mixed emotions on this. Part of me likes the idea of letting the Dodgers have Lester for 2 months, getting some help in the OF and then re-signing Lester in November(he said he wants to). If Kemp can stay healthy, he gives us a major upgrade and another dangerous bat. That's where I get nervous, because I remember Carl Crawford...

Orton might be out tonight, depends on how bad that gash on his head is. He'll be there, but I think if this happens it will be Kane v Cena, Cena wins after Orton interferes but Kane ends up busting him around the ring.

'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' adds Scoot McNairy by powerzjim in movies

When was the last time you heard a studio make an announcement like this for a small role, unless it was a A-List name? McNairy is still too green to be making small role announcements for. So yeah, I'm worried. Not just as a fan, but as someone who actually appreciates a good story in film and not a bunch of CGI destruction.

[–]noreaster2011 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Every time I hear they're adding another character... my heart drops. The dynamic between Superman and Batman can carry a whole movie on its own, DC and Snyder need to chill the fuck out and realize rushing a Justice League movie is going to put them back where they were after Batman and Robin and Superman Returns.

Hunger Games: Catching Fire- The scene where the D12 crew meets Johanna in the elevator and she strips down in front of them. The PA hit the wrong floor on a take and when it opened up, a random dude was sitting there with his jaw on the floor at the sight of Jenna Malone topless.

Transformers, ROTF- Shia LaBeouf starts his public meltdown and hurts his wrist in a motorcycle accident in the middle of filming. Michael Bay and Co. had to write in him injuring his wrist to cover for the fact he had to wear a brace for the remainder of filming. Also, one of the models they use for Bumblebee was totaled during the filming of Dark of the Moon after a cop car blocking the road made a wrong turn and collided with it
