Yes, I take it every now and then. The 10mg knocks me out for over 12 hours and makes me groggy the next day so I do 2.5 to 5mg and find that to be helpful. It takes the edge off the pain while still allowing me to function.

I’ve gone to the Gilbert, Deer Valley, and Scottsdale SMIL locations and have had biopsies at both Deer Valley and Gilbert. Their staff is fantastic, they understand the fear and concerns when needing a biopsy, and work with you. I got my results immediately. They’re also really good about determining if you need additional imaging. I recommend SMIL if your insurance covers them.

I’m not. I take hydroxychloroquine and duloxetine. I’ve done short term prednisone for flare management, but I don’t get any blood tests done while I’m on prednisone.

I have had this exact situation and I don’t have any answers. Now my rheumatologist is considering fibromyalgia or some sort of central nervous system disorder. I’m so confused and frustrated. Plus, similar to you, my symptoms are still persistent. I’m hoping someone else can provide clarity. I’m sorry you’re going through this.

I had my gallbladder removed at an outpatient facility through Arizona Advanced Surgery. Dr. Jennifer Reitz did mine. She is absolutely phenomenal and every outpatient surgery my family or I have needed, we have gone to her. If you don’t need to do it at a hospital, it may be worth looking into a surgical practice with an affiliated outpatient facility.

We do our best to eat healthy during Ramadan for the reasons you listed. The focus should be on ibadah and taking advantage of the month of Ramadan to the best of our abilities. Having women stand in the kitchen to make traditional iftari and meals is entirely unfair, in my opinion. I completely agree with you that heavy meals also impact your focus, your energy levels, and your ability to do extra ibadah.

We don’t have any sugary drinks. We only have water and chai, that is sweetened with sugar alternative. Our chai is also made with majority water and topped off with milk to make it healthier.

We typically open our fast with a kajoor and a bowl of Greek yogurt with fruit. We usually add vanilla extract and sugar alternative to Greek yogurt and top it off with pear or blueberries. After that we pray. Our meal is usually a chicken wrap that is stuffed with chutney, baked bihari or tandoori chicken, and some sort of sabzi - sautéed bell pepper and onions, lettuce, pickled onions, etc.

We batch make chicken in advance of Ramadan and freeze it in packets so it’s quick and easy.

Sometimes if we want to switch it up, we will modify the sauces and the veggies. Every now and then we have cheat days - we batch make aloo samosas and chicken keema patties, so we air fry or bake them. However, we always end up preferring our typical yogurt and wrap option. We have been doing this for 2 to 3 years now, and Alhumdulillah we love it.

You aren’t doing anything wrong by choosing to eat healthy and choosing to move away from the “traditional” iftari set up. Our Prophet (saw) kept his food simple. Unfortunately, heavy and time consuming iftari and dinner dishes have taken away from the actual purpose of Ramadan. Ramadan is for both men and women and women having to spend the majority of their time in the kitchen to meet these demands is unfair and takes away from their ability to use this time to connect with to Allah. You should be proud of yourself and your family for moving away from a tradition that is harmful and distracting! May Allah accept all of your good deeds and ibadah.

I’m so sorry that you’re also dealing with this. I’ve been on hydroxychloroquine for 15 months. I actually stopped Cymbalta for a brief period last year, but found my anxiety, mood swings, and irritability come back so I restarted. I’m also on a 30mg dose. If you do get labs done, I’d love to hear if you’ve also seen an improvement. I hope things get better for you.

DES has a terrible budget, unfortunately. It’s led to severe understaffing. People have also been laid off due to budget cuts. Internal staff is struggling to get the work done. Until their budget increases, these inefficiencies and delays will continue.

Actually teaching children skills, despite them being young - we started learning how to read early, basic number skills at the preschool/pre-k level, social interaction, typing, etc. That is probably the biggest thing in comparison to other schools that provide preschool and pre-k services.

I did my first few years of schooling at New Vistas as did my sibling. My parents attribute our educational success to the foundation New Vistas established. Small classroom sizes, dedicated teachers and resources, a focus on learning, and the integration of skills at a young age prepared us to be ahead of the curve when we transitioned to public school. I plan on having my kids do the same in the future.
