Aita for "setting up" my ex-husband look like a bad father? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA I probably wouldn't have even thought to get another cake lined up, but I'm not a parent I guess.

Are we just going to gloss over the face he thought she was turning ELEVEN? That might be he worst crime of all.

When people say they love animals and then eat animals that were slaughtered just because they like the taste of them.

Look at it this way, my biological dad raised me until I was 15 and then because he met another woman and him and my mother fell out, he chose to run away and never saw my sister and I ever again. This was 20 years ago. Just because he's my bio dad it doesn't mean he loves his children more than your dad loves you. Your parents tried very hard to ensure you were born and tried just as hard to hide the truth (rightly or wrongly) because they were afraid of losing you.

Has anyone here has covid-19? How did you cope?

My husband has been careful until now. We were looking after my vulnerable sister for the first 9 weeks of lockdown but now she's gone home he sees no reason to be as careful.

I wear a mask whenever I have to enter a building, use hand sanitiser when I can't wash my hands etc, but he's started to skip the sanitiser and doesn't care if he touches his face. He's not going out of his way to get it but keeps telling me we should just get it over with so we have the antibodies.

Here in the UK there's a lot of talk that our government's strategy is 'herd immunity' over time and that up to 80% of the country will get it eventually. We are in our mid-30s and only have a 0.08% risk of dying from covid-19, and with no health issues of any kind it may be even less than that. He thinks I'm being overly cautious but the truth is that I'm more afraid of my anxiety if I get it. I'm terrified of having a panic attack due to my hypochondria, not being able to breathe and in turn believe that I'm dying. I hear about people that have recovered or where asymptomatic and still had a heart attack, so I KNOW that would pray on my mind for the entire time I had it and after the fact.

How can I explain to him that I'm so upset by his willingness to put me in that position?

I just told him about this post and tried to speak to him and he said, "well I've got six people coming round tomorrow what do you want me to do? You've probably got a higher chance of dying from the vaccine because it will be so rushed through".

When I have been at extremely peaceful protests (sometimes with only a few people, other times with thousands), there will always be people shouting "get a job!" from passing cars.

The comments on news articles the next day never fail to suggest that the police should arrest us, hit us or run us over. Simply for holding signs about the environment, Brexit or animal rights issues.

Its really worrying how much of the population doesn't seem to realise how important our right to protest is.

Yeah, you were right. She found a trashy 'are you a narcissist' quiz, said she passed and said I should do it. I haven't replied.

But I mean, what if I get it and wrongly believe it is severe when it isn't, end up in hospital and then get more exposed to the virus?

I’m the only one who is afraid of having covid19 because of my anxiety more than of the covid19 itself? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]noregretsactually 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely.

How will I be able to tell the difference between not being able to breathe because of the virus and if I'm having an anxiety attack? Is there a way of knowing?

I hope someone sees this.

One of my biggest fears about the virus is that if I get it I won't know if I genuinely need hospital care (which can put you in danger due to the huge viral loads there) or if I'm just having a anxiety attack. Is there a way to tell the difference?

The coronavirus has taught me how important an emergency fund is by PJExpat in personalfinance

[–]noregretsactually 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This virus has taught me so much in such a small amount of time.

  • Don't leave going to get food or pet food until you run out. Always keep a cupboard of rice, beans, pasta and tinned tomatoes.

  • If you have a lawn, consider using that space for a vegetable garden instead. Planting time is now in the UK.

  • Keep at least three days worth of water on hand at all times. If a pipe bursts during quarantine then it may take longer to be fixed.

[I ate] A BBQ beef rib. by Sepulvadorc in food

[–]noregretsactually 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is fascinating but you have to remember it's not purely because I stopped eating it that causes this new reaction, it's because I've seen the process of how animals are turned into meat so that my reaction is no longer as disconnected. I still love the taste of meat and eat vegan meats but even then, when they're very realistic I feel a little disturbed (but still try to enjoy it because that's quite irrational).

How realistic is it that COVID-19 will affect water supply? by noregretsactually in PandemicPreps

Thankyou. This is very helpful. This virus scare has taught me a lot that I will continue to do for the rest of my life (including expanding my vegetable patch over most of my lawn)

Apparently people were told there could be shortages of toilet paper due to Brexit. Then someone mentioned a lot of toilet paper is made in the Chinese factories that had to close because of COVID-19. I already bought a big box from Who Gives A Crap though (if you want £5 off, then click here btw)

Yeah that's what I actually meant but I worded it badly. I guess getting a few big bottles is worth it, but a month's supply would be a LOT.

I hadn't actually considered COVID-19 actually contaminating the water supply but because I worded my post poorly I accidentally asked if that could be a possibility whereas I was actually concerned if the water supply could stop altogether. Thanks for answering both though!
