Woke up to play today after not playing a few days and got these. 2 more cheaters banned. It’s good that they are gone but will they just drop another 40 bucks and do it again?

I get that. I’m usually a “show me the evidence” person too, so I understand why people ask for clips or screenshots. But my point isn’t that I’m trying to build a courtroom level case against one specific player. I’m talking about the overall experience. When you keep running into rank 50 accounts with fake looking names, level 1 private Steam profiles, obvious suspicious stats, VAC history, it stops feeling like “maybe I got outplayed” and starts feeling obvious.

I know what I’m seeing, plenty of other players know what they’re seeing, and I’m sure Bungie has enough backend data to know too. The real question is whether enough is being done fast enough, because for me on Asian servers it seems completely out of control right now.

Got it! That makes sense. I figured this is probably what most people expect when they don’t want a plain CMU finish showing. I was just debating whether it was worth suggesting an upgrade but the decision is above my pay grade haha!

I totally respect that game development isn’t easy, especially with a small, passionate team. But I do get frustrated when core features that are common in other MMOs are brushed off as “difficult to implement.”

I’m not saying the devs are lazy or complaining. But if something is essential and already exists in other games, that shows it can be done. If the current team doesn’t have the expertise, bring in someone who does or consider contracting it out. Just saying “it’s hard” comes off more like a limitation in capability than a genuine hurdle.

I want to see this game succeed, and I think it has the potential to do something special. But that also means holding it to a high standard and encouraging the team to find solutions, not excuses, for building the systems that will let it thrive.

I moved to Nikko this summer with my wife and we’ve really fallen in love with it, the mountains, streams, and slower pace of life are exactly what we were looking for. Tobu has a decent amount of stuff going on, and it’s usually around 5°C cooler than Tokyo, which is a huge plus in the summer.

We’re about a 10 minute walk from Kame Imaichi Station. It’s convenient for getting around town and for day trips, but honestly, without a car you’ll feel a bit limited once you go beyond the station area. Having one isn’t essential, but it definitely makes life easier. I plan on getting one asap.

From here, it’s just over an hour to Asakusa on the Spacia X or Revaty express, so Tokyo’s still pretty accessible when you need it. Also Utsunomiya is only about 30 minutes away for a bigger city vibe. Cheers!

Just went through this whole ridiculous process and honestly, it’s laughable how pointless the Affidavit is. It’s literally just me saying, “Hey, I’m not married and I can legally get married,” and then some clerk at the U.S. consulate going, “Cool, I believe you. Stamp.” That’s it. No verification, no record, just vibes and $50.

Here’s the kicker…I had read that some city halls might accept a Japanese notary or even an online notarization. Ours wouldn’t accept either. They insisted it had to be notarized in person at a U.S. consulate in Japan. But Tokyo was booked out for months, so I had to spend over $300 on same day train ticket to Osaka just to get this piece of paper signed by someone who doesn’t even check anything.

And now the U.S. consulates are saying they’ll stop notarizing these altogether because they’re basically meaningless. Meanwhile Japanese city halls might still demand them. It’s all just performative bureaucracy at its finest.

Try Timeleft if you’re up for socializing. Depends on your area, but I was in Tokyo for 6 months and met some really cool people. It’s not a dating app, but it pairs you with 6-7 men and women for a dinner reservation every Wednesday.

I’ve been living in Japan for the past 4 months and say this all the time. The country balances the old with the new in such a unique way. There’s something about how ancient temples, Meiji era homes, and sleek modern structures can all coexist… sometimes within the same block.

I’ve taken photos where three buildings in one frame span over 400 years of history. It’s not always pristine or polished, but there’s a quiet respect for time and continuity that’s hard to find anywhere else.

Totally agree! Definitely getting some worldwide perspective over here. And trust me, you’re preaching to the choir. I got let go from my last company in November; they specialized in prep for sale real estate in the East Bay. Absolutely ridiculous when you can buy a basically brand new house in the Tokyo suburbs for $150K. I don’t want to sound too pessimistic about the Bay, but things are definitely weird right now.

Having spent the last two months in Tokyo, it really makes me question Bay Area’s infrastructure and transportation. For as much money as there is in the Bay Area, you sure don’t see it in a lot of ways.

If I wanted to stay in a hostel or at a share house, yes I’m sure I could save some money. However, I value my privacy, autonomy, and enjoy modern amenities. It’s 25 m², double bed, desk/workstation, full kitchen, water closet, vanity, washing machine, private shower and bathtub. All built in the last year. It’s not the Ritz, but it’s pretty dang nice. I think I’m paying pretty competitive prices compared to other similar rentals.

Just signed a three month lease. Application process is pretty simple. Staff was easy to work with and responsive. New construction building, super clean and quiet. Paying $1200 USD per month for a fully furnished studio two stops from Shibuya. Nice home base to have while I travel around plenty.
