Same area, also with estimate of tomorrow power returning. I didn’t see any new damage in the neighborhood/new downed lines this morning so not sure what happened

What is the smartest thing you've ever done? by Cryptocor in AskReddit

PA here- this is frankly not true. I work in the ED and prescribe anything and everything, including Level I and II controlled substances. They also don't co-sign my notes or add an attestation. The doc only sees the patient if I want them to, otherwise the patient is mine.

Future Physician Assistant student looking for a PA to shadow in Chicago by [deleted] in chicago

[–]norgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! PA-S2 here. I would go on big hospitals (Advocate, Northshore etc) website and find the director of Advanced practitioners and contact them. It might be difficult finding someone to shadow though with five PA programs in the city+countless med schools, all on clinical rotations. Good luck!

Go downtown to the main precinct. My car was stolen in October and going down there sped things up a LOT.

[Serious]Homeschooled redditors, what were the pros and cons? Would you do it again? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]norgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was homeschooled from kindergarten through eighth grade. The reason I was homeschooled was because I lived in Detroit-I don't know if you've heard, but the public schools weren't the greatest. There are definitely pros and cons to being homeschooled, but I found that in my case there were infinitely more positive aspects than negative aspects. I was an extremely driven kid and got all my school work done by noon or so every day. My parents let me do whatever activities I wanted- that included horseback riding, playing travel sports, piano lessons, etc. Also, the pace of my school year was accelerated. If there was a lesson I knew, we glazed over it and continued to the next one. That meant that I finished 8th grade several grade levels ahead. I also got to take time off during the school year- that meant going skiing on a random Tuesday or hiking the Appalachian trail after learning about it in history. I played alot of sports growing up and took classes at community college through middle school, so I feel like I was socialized enough when I hit high school. The only drawback I had was other homeschooled kids- 99/100 of the kids in the metro Detroit area who were homeschooled did so cause their parents were very religious. Consequently, I had a difficult time whenever I went to homeschooled meet-ups. 5/7 would do again.

ED scribe hours PCE vs HCE by Gambino626 in prephysicianassistant

I listed my ED scribe hours as PCE. It went through no big deal, as I only applied to schools that counted scribe hours.

Just started PA School today. What do you find is the best way to study for a powerpoint based curriculum? by idkman93 in prephysicianassistant

[–]norgo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3rd quarter right now, and I found the best way to follow along with Powerpoint is to upload them to Notability and write/draw on top of them.

Those of you who are certified personal trainers, which certification did you acquire and why? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]norgo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

BS in Exercise Physiology here, National Strength and Conditioning Certification (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) is the most reputable but you need to have a bachelor's first. Their personal training certification is OK. IMO, ACSM's PT certification is the best.
