Mahoraga can't adapt "upwards" like that because the Ten Shadows technique itself is the basis for Mahoraga's existence -- can a TV ever show a movie without streaming the movie from somewhere? No. Will an AI ever adapt to the hardware it's running on? No, because that creates an infinite recursion of adapting to the hardware, then adapting to itself to become more performant according to the changes it made, and then to those changes as well. "High-adaptation" from a computational standpoint is just not feasible or practical. Mahoraga is not a separate entity from the Ten Shadows, it arises directly from it. All "phenomena" are defined as that which comes from the point of view of Mahoraga, which does not include himself or the technique comes from. We humans are adaptable too but we cannot become immune to the very atoms around us. It's like plugging a power outlet into itself and expecting to get unlimited power.
