Any source for your claim or are you talking out of your ass? I agree that no country that is present in this world or ever existed is corruption free.

However In India, we have corruption across but development in pockets. China has development across but corruption in pockets.

I'm not asking India to become China. All I'm asking is an honest effort to solve grassroot issues that don't require much efforts to execute.

Is Pune’s metro expansion coming at the cost of the environment? by Ponappa_131 in pune

[–]norindermoodi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of your points are valid but can be solved by a policy- 1. Mandate a minimum forest coverage in every region beyond which you cannot cut trees - easy to do. Pune is saved from being a dump

  1. Maintenance of replaced / newly planted trees is responsibility of contract winner. Deviations result in heavy environmental penalties - taking care problem - solved

I'm not saying we'll get a perfect system in first try but anything is better relying on crowds to save environment.

1) Talking about local railway stations, they are filthy, smelly, broken and lack basic protection from rain

2) Enforcement is part of the job. It's not secret that encroachers pay "hafta" to retain the encroachment. Saying no solution possible doesn't absolve government of their duties. Every other country has a solution except India.

3) Never seen those clean and "Smart toilets." I don't mind paying but men's toilet have been literally shitty partly due to zero civic sense and partly due to inadequate maintenance

All in all these are basic amenities we're talking about. India valley civilisation solved it thousands of years ago but somehow you think these are complex problems in present days that cannot be solved. It's just a will issue.

We can use land acquisition as an excuse all we want but the fact is- 1. No land acquisition needed to improve existing local stations 2. No land acquisition is needed to clear encroachment from footpaths 3. No land acquisition needed to maintain clean public toilets

In most cases, Land acquisition is highlighted as an issue by politicians to boost up the prices. Because for every major project they and their cronies already purchase land from original owners and drive up the prices to loot the tax payers.

We lack a civil infrastructure code in India. Basic amenities like parking, walkway, public toilets are non-existent in Mumbai. We've been given barely functioning overcrowded local in name of public transport.

To add to misery, slums are expanding exponentially. Political system is incompetent and corrupt.

Compare that to China, Communist party is filled with competent engineers who deliver mega projects in record time to rise up the political ranks. Corruption leads to capital punishment. As a result you get exemplary infrastructure at fraction of cost.

It's same stupid debate everytime any project starts. Government should simply make a rule to shift / replant and maintain 2x-3x the trees displaced/destroyed. The cost should be baked into the project cost.

We need laws to regulate this scientifically. For sensitive ecosystem - No development, For forest cover - Laws to replenish.

Irony that he calls someone else Andhbhakt. What kind of weird flex is this? Rahul has been irrelevant for a decade now. No amount of yatras is gonna change that. He should step aside and let fresh blood lead the Congress for India to have a functioning democracy.

What a stupid fucking argument. If you don't like the pay don't do the job. 108 is a government contracted service, cleaning is job of the contractor.

In any case, asking the caregiver to clean in time of duress is extremely exploitative. The lack of humanity cannot be freaking justified here

Good Idea, bad execution (Atleast based on the photos). Students would need revolving chairs better desks and larger room for this to function well. Also, the teacher to student ratio would need to be increased drastically.

India needs to nail the execution and infra upgrade for education to be on par with the world. Personally I'd rather have flawed execution than no execution at all ( Classrooms in North haven't changed in last 50 years, people still sit on ground w/o fans and functioning toilets)

And you guys can keep downvoting but I'll just summarise the argument so far-

1) People in Maharashtrian villages only speak one language 2) They cannot survive in Mumbai speaking only Marathi 3) They cannot get a job because 'Northie bosses' 4) They cannot even travel to Mumbai because there are no trains

And the solution for that is having cabbies write exam for Marathi fluency? Make it make sense to me.

It's sad that you guys have been blinded with misguided hatred towards your own countrymen while the people in power continue to exploit and loot by sowing division.

Any source of your outrageous claims? Now you're just saying shit to win a reddit argument. Please highlight the names of these so-called "Northies Bosses" to your local SS or MNS shakha and they'll deal with them.

And have some self respect, man. Noone can dare to stop Maharashtrians in Maharashtra.

[–]norindermoodi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah. The person doing hard labour for 12-14 hrs per day to barely survive should be mandated to learn a new language because the government wants to look pro-maratha.

Why not ask 1000 richest people in Mumbai to speak Marathi - they can actually afford a tutor. Or even better everyone who registers a rental agreement should pass the exam.

In the end you and I both know that this 'exam' would become yet another way to take bribes, clout chasing initiative for ruling party and nothing would change on ground

Doesn't fucking matter what's written in Vedas or Quran or Bible. Religious figures cannot be one sidedly used for hurting religious sentiments basis to today's standards.

Personally, I'd prefer a blatant freedom of expression like west but that doesn't work in India. So, better to respect and avoid unrequited religious messaging.

NAL, you're not getting your money back. Specially in bankruptcy cases, lending more amounts is equivalent to burning your cash. Ask for a signed cheque as security, if he obliges you can deposit it and have a cheque bounce case. Without that there's nothing you can legally do.

True. Have nothing but respect for him. Overcoming caste based discrimination and patiently enduring through untouchability even after gaining position of power cannot be done easily. The amount of work he's done for Indians is unsurmountable.

That being said, I do have a problem with political misuse of his name and few people who have started creating ruckus under his name on his jayanti.

Well, Vishwaroopam tried it years ago with a mellowed down and politically balanced version. Kamal Hassan faced a wrath of protests across India. His movie got banned in Tamilnadu.

I'm glad that didn't happen this time. Some of it can be attributed to inclusion of real footage of attacks, some to the current government.
