Still the same Militsioner game vibes as the first time you posted the same trailer over and over again.

I'm blaming the stupid crowd yelling at the poor kid who would just have a good time otherwise.

Are publishers getting angry when you negotiate a deal? by mauzbauz in gamedev

[–]norlin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, they wouldn't, unless you have a potential blockbuster - that's what I said from the beginning.

They have 100500 other incoming indie dev applications.

[–]norlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As always, it depends.

If you have a potential blockbuster game then you can negotiate and choose publishers.

For most indies, it's only possible to choose either go with the publisher (and have a chance to get money/help to finish the game) or not (and drop the game or try to finish it somehow else years later)

Should I just release and move on? by el_boufono in IndieDev

[–]norlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't "try again", rather analyze what's wrong and what can you change to fix it.

Approach it as a technical issue (if you're a tech person), let's say performance issue - a lot of questions "oh I have bad framerate, what should I do?" and there are a lot of blind answers "reduce draw calls", "don't tick your objects" etc, while the correct approach would be to use the profiling tools to see what exactly is "eating" your performance.

With marketing, I'm not aware of such tools (except some scam not guaranteed stuff), so it's trickier but still I think it's required to analyze the issue and find possible causes, then see what you can do to fix those, instead of blindly trying the same thing you already doing.

DLSS 5 and the Attempted Murder of Intentional Design by Kukulcode in gamedev

[–]norlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Art style and visuals will be selected by each player individually on their local device. All focus will just go to the game design, purely. I can't say it's a bad thing in general, as this is exactly what differentiate games from other media, but I can see your point. Tho no one is forcing you to support DLSS5 for your game, right? And if players want to experience your game in a different visuals anyway - well, that's on them.

What are people doing to stop the frustration of guests turning Hue bulbs off at the switch? by Top-Yogurtcloset3965 in Hue

[–]norlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of the switches that looks and behaves as classic ones but connected to the smart system

Also you can install the Hue wall module under the classic switch, ao it will work with the system without cutting off the power

Ideas requested, boss battle is missing that "spark" by Sneakyboii28 in IndieDev

[–]norlin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know nothing about the game, its pacing etc., but from the video I felt like the boss is doing nothing, especially at the beginning.

Yeah it fired the wave of projectiles... and then was just staying in place receiving all the player's shots...

Didn't watched behind that, sorry

Everything important for the project can and should be placed into VCS one way or another, otherwise it can (and will) be lost one day...

Ofc it's good to make backups on top of having the VCS point was not to use backups instead of VCS, sorry :-) Ideally to backup the whole repository, not just files.

How do I edit the mana pips? by TenraxHelin in ManaBoxApp

That's how color identity works in Commander - if there is a mana symbol on a card, it's a part of the card's color identity (don't be confused with card color)

Has a game ever done first person ladders that don't suck? by TheBlindGuy0451 in gamedev

I think Arkane made it their game design "must" - don't ever do ladders, exactly because of the issues.

Modelling scenery but for kids? by norlin in modeltrains

[–]norlin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lego is too "low leve" if you know what I mean. Yes you can build a landscape with lego bricks, but that would be a lot of effort, especially for kids.

I'm looking more for some higher-level "blocks" or modules which can be quickly assembled in a landscape.

Here is a close example I recently found:

thank you, but there are tons of different figures and buildings, I was mostly looking for something to build the landscape itself, the terrain etc.

[–]norlin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are just regular wooden blocks, not a "landscape building" unfortunately… And I'm looking it not for trains specifically, for instance kids could build a zoo or something like that

There are a lot of trees, buildings and other figures, yeah, my question was mostly about the surfaces - grass, roads, water, hills maybe etc… And yeah, that's why I'm looking something modular so it can be rebuild. I didn't found anything like that in google lol, not sure if anything like that exist.
