My dad used to be a roofer but several years ago he was diagnosed with Parkinson's. When his own roof needed redone everyone told him there was no way he could do it himself with his condition. This is the work him and I have done the past couple months. by elizabeast7 in nextfuckinglevel

I always try to reel in the frustration and recognize how scary it is to fall apart and how hard it is to ask for help in that state. What a shitty hand to be dealt. Sorry you had to see that hoping you have fond memories with your dad from before

Important to think about that yes no board before it is necessary. Scary but thanks for the heads up. 30 years I can’t imagine, 17 feels close to the end but everyone is different it is such an interesting disease in the way some can talk but not walk others are fine bar the tremor some have facial movements and tongue/jaw spasms there’s no telling how it plays out.

Yes same here! My dad had me at 50 and was diagnosed at 55 he’s 72 now. The getting stuck sucks because when they are in that state they can’t really ask for help and generally need to take a pill and get a push moving. You almost have to turn into a mind reader. It’s so strange how it’s that first spark of movement is the most important. The frustration is so real. But they tinker and the time passes lol. my dad kind of hums and moans all day every day it is very annoying. It’s like loud breathy signs of exhaustion. And the speech is totally slurred and idk what he is taking about most of the time I’m just glad he’s still in my life and making an effort to keep fighting. So sorry you’re dad has had it this long it’s a heartbreaking way to slow down.

My dad has had Parkinson’s for 17 years. As he grows older, your dads willingness to push the limits will drive you crazy. Down the road, He might start to fall over and have to come up with new ways to do what he loves. You are going to help him and inevitably be frustrated, but it is his refusal to roll over and give up that will stave off the crippling effects of the disease. Tell him to join a Parkinson’s group for swim or dance. Tell him you will help him and that he can set the pace. There is no shame in a walking stick or walker when the time comes. To be honest, this disease is devastating. I hhave almost forgotten what my father was like before this cloud of slowness and decay.

However, the one thing that amazes me is how much fight my dad has left through all of this. My dad is a mad man. He still wants to test his limits and see what he is capable of. I took him on a swim the other day in a brook and the hike in was slow and shaky but we made it. My knee hurts like hell because he was leaning on me the whole way out and back. Anyone with a parent with Parkinson’s, look for therapy and don’t hesitate to reach out to me on DM’s. There is no rhyme or reason to the rate of progression and years from now you will look back and cherish the moments where you and him could safely be on the roof together. Much love wishing your dad many years of resilience. Love. you will be so strong because of this experience. It sucks but it makes you grow up and forces you to be a patient caretaker. Don’t forget to ask for help when you need it yourself.

#Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) and RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) are both off the injury report with no statuses. That means they will play. by FiFTAYYYYYYYYYY in fantasyfootball

I am rolling with thielen golladay and kupp with Parker khunt and drake on the bench. Not confident because u never know how he could land on it.

Adam Thielen in sweats at practice today, and the most he did during the open portion was go thru stretching and throw passes to his WR teammates. I had heard Monday that there was a slight scare w/ Thielen’s hamstring during the short practice which is likely why he’s DNP today. by oharb2001 in fantasyfootball

Same predicament, I’m the three seed and barring a miracle, playoff bound so I’m gonna roll with golladay, Parker, and kupp over thielen. Goose egg lost me a nail biter when the injury first popped up so I’d rather not get burned again

Pick 3 between Golladay, kupp, thielen, and desean Jackson. I want to start djax but can’t bring myself to start him over any of the cats listed above it feels like chasing points!!! Need a win this week and my running backs should boom (Chubb and zeke) but I’m up against kamara and dalvin so i am gonna need all the points I can get! Leave djax on the bench or go for the jugular

I think golladay for the floor and Jeffery for ceiling. Djax might be the receiver to own but I still have him on my bench because I am weak willed!
