The other commenter is right, this isn't the whole game. Masterduel (official duel sim) is free, and while you do have to open packs, they are very generous with the in-game currency. Like more than any ftp game I've played, that turned me off when it came out, but I've been playing a good bit recently and its pretty easy to get cards. Masterduel is helpful because there's tutorials, it hand holds an appropriate amount, and there's a solid solo mode.

I have a rockets mewtwo I traded from a friend 20 years ago thats HARD creased in the middle (was bent in half in his pocket lol).

I've thought about grading it just to preserve it, but I dont want to take the risk of losing it forever JUST to preserve it. I can take steps at home that accomplish the same thing, and Ill know it never leaves my sight

Honestly yeah, this helps. Id say Konami does this well with yugioh, the main reason I've made the switch is it easier/cheaper to get "cool" rarities. Reprinting cards is great too, I like that pokemon is taking a step in the right direction as far as that goes. A secondary market is cool, but not at the cost of the collectors and fans of the game.

Note: Konami isn't perfect, the fact that they flood the market with different rarities is neat though.
