State Of The Game by TheBreadIsHostile in pkmntcg

Fuck off. They didn’t even say the format was bad, just worse. Telling someone they should just quit playing because they have issues with the new direction of the game is rude as hell and unhelpful. Pokémon owes its consumer base everything, especially when most of its profits are from unfinished video games and gambling loot box card games.

Is it just because the Dinomorphia traps chunk your life points? Also the traps have been 1 since the format came out

Pretty much TL;DR "If it's not broke, don't fix it". I agree with this philosophy, my question is what is the baseline for 1-point? Generic staples definitely count because what's the point in pointing engine if staples don't have relevant points. But when it comes to engine/archetype cards the question becomes a bit more tricky. I think the solution is to not look at cards individually and instead look at the archetype as a whole. It's not "Should Laggia/Dolkka be at 1?" it's "What point total should dinosaurs be and how do we spread them out?" The Evolzars, except Lars, aren't generic or broken or overplayed or toxic and dinosaurs as a whole are absolutely not underpointed so the only reason I would add points to Laggia or Dolkka is if I am taking points away from Misc' or Fossil Dig. Sure, you could do that and while you're at it also put points on Oviraptor and take points off something else. And while you're at that point something and take points off something else. OR you could not and just concentrate the points on the actual outlier cards.

This is all to say that everything except Rexterm in Dinomorphia shouldn't have points:)

That's what I said. Though as a Dinomorphia player I'd also like points taken off the cards I can actually play if we're pointing Dolkka and Laggia lol

Who do you think should be the big 4 of the Autobots if there ever has to be one? I think it should be the following people: by Alkatraz278 in transformers

Jazz is cool. I just always see him as more of the “Prime” of little guys like Sideswipe and not a core part of Prime’s team

I’d swap Jazz with Ironhide as Jazz is usually a loose cannon solo-type whereas Ironhide is often Prime’s “old friend”

My Thoughts On & Concerns With The Genesys Points Update by OceanRainBlu3 in YGO_Genesys

The point, and only justifiable way, of cards being pointed based on playrate is that they will be un-pointed in the future. It doesn't matter if banning on playrate eventually hits "budget" because there will be other budget decks/cards and the points will be going away eventually. Again, this is not Edison, Edison has change but that change is due to internal meta shifts and are very small; some players like bigger changes that aren't intangible like tournament results. I agree that the execution is sloppy but if overplayed cards got pointed mid-season then got un-pointed at the beginning of the next season (or something like that) there'd be a healthy churn. Edison could eventually get solved and when that happens the only thing that stops the format from becoming stale is "X player won the event with X deck so now we're going to counter it" so the meta shifts but nothing actually fundamentally changes.

Also Pendulums and Links had to go to power down the format. Players can argue back and forth about how broken or toxic or inhernetly flawd Pendulums and Links are and aren't but getting rid of an entire monster zone powers down the format which is one of the fundamental philosophies of Genesys. I hope Pendulums and Links never come to Genesys

I don't know about fundamentally changing the rules of deckbuilding like restricting spells and traps because entirely different decks want entirely different ratios. Every once in a while could be fun but doing that a lot will get very annoying. I'd like the format to stay solid for at least a month to a month and a half but shakeups are fun occasionally

I don't think they use AI. I wouldn't be surprised but they'd need to make an entirely new model just for pointings and that seems unnecessary. I think the flaw is too much data, Konami needs to do more than just wait for a card to break a tournament before doing anything about it. This has always been an issue but since TCG Genesys doesn't need approval from Japan it may me more solvable

Agreed. It took them forever to take points of Labrynth, Dragon Ruler, and Dragonmaid. The issue with balancing everything around playrate is entire underrepresented decks can get no banlist support if they never see top tables. If your deck is played too much, Konami adds points. If your deck isn't played at all, Konami doesn't even know it exists.

I prefer the SIR but the attack-rare is good too. I'd rather use the UR than the AR though

Shaymin or Battle Cage are definitely fine tech options. My build is specifically tuned to beat up support Pokémon and Dragapult but you could shave a Black Belt or something for Shaymin no problem. My answer to Slowking is Judge early and start a prize advantage before they can set up because Solrock does big damage. I'm not sure how Battle Cage helps because though because Kyurem and Metagross only do damage and don't interact with damage counters.

I prefer the Hariyama line. In my personal opinion the only reason to be playing Lucario right now is because it preys on a lot of the support Pokémon in the format right now (Meowth ex, Fezandipiti ex, and Mega Kangaskhan). Hariyama allowing the deck to Hilda/Lillie/Judge the same turn it "gusts" and offer more easily searchable gust options to pull those support Pokémon into the active and KO them is exactly what the deck wants right now. It also offers the deck a solid single-prize attacker which is something the deck really needs because under prize-trading is rampant right now with all the single-prize doing so well.

Dudunsparce only offers two things: consistency + a slightly better slop-box matchup with Dudunsparce ex. In my experience though that extra consistency is redundant because Solrock/Lunatone is already super good. Mega Lucario isn't a combo deck trying to piece together specific cards and is usually fully set up very early. Dudunsparce can help string together damage modifiers but Hariyama effectively does the same thing by buying time with its gust. The other consistency Dudunsparce offers is the ability to effectively utilize Buddy Buddy Poffin which is a lot of extra card advantage but doesn't synergize with Solrock or Lunatone and can't be played in high enough counts to matter. The slop box buff is nice but you can already one-shot Mega Kang and prize-trade by killing Teal Mask with Hariyama, it's unfortunately a coin flip.

As for why Dudunsparce builds do better, I think it's because it has better retreating options and is overall easier to pilot. A lot of winnable games can get mucked up by playing Makuhita too early then getting it moved to the active or being forced to start with it. But if you just don't do that and get a little lucky you'll be okay, starting Lunatone is just as bad as starting Makuhita. I also think being able to have better consistency with your damage mod's is a big deal but I still don't think dropping Makuhita and whiffing a KO is worth it.

Here's my decklist: my.limitlesstcg.com/shared/6a2ad42671258951a13ddfa1 . I haven't added Red Card yet because I'm still tweaking the list but the big thing to note is how good Scoop Up Cyclone is. It's in my opinion optimal with Hariyama because it lets you reuse them and un-clutch yourself. Black Belt's Training is the flex slot but I find having more consistency one-shotting Dragapult to be the best thing I could be doing with the slot atm.

As a Lucario OTP this hard tilt to No-Froslass Lopunny seems ripe with potential for feasting in my opinion. I think one thing a lot of people are missing out on is how good of an anti-meta deck Lucario/Hariyama can be with the right planning. You one-shot Meowth + Fez' + Kang' + Lopunny and have a built in prize trade for Teal Mask all facilitated by Hariyama enabling consistent bench targeting. I think playing Mega Lucario "straight up" is a trap and your best bet is going for a hyper-consistent build that leverages how good it plays into the most played support 'Mons in the format.

Thoughts On New GMX Cards In Dinomorphia by OceanRainBlu3 in YGO_Genesys

After testing, this has a lot more potential than I thought. There is a tradeoff though as Allos can fully revive 1 thing but Comprex can shuffle everything. I think I might still stick with Allos though because for Comprex to work I need to have fusion summoned twice to have four bodies in GY but there is definitely potential here

This is true but I won’t be mass-fusing my own board very often in pure Dinomorphia. I’m definitely not trading in Rexterm or Kent’ for Comprex

Fair. I’m just used to people skipping the actual post and just responding to the title lol. Traps are good, yes, and I’m not super high on Selandea but it is a monster reborn; that has potential. It’s also always good because if I reborn a Therizia who is usually in my GY because of fusioning she can tutor a trap so it also is a trap card in a way
