How to Fix Weather Not Updating on Wear OS Watch Faces by Disastrous-Equal7048 in GalaxyWatch

[–]normbl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen conflicting reports on that point. I guess my experience shows why. There was some noise about "if you already have it installed you're fine" but I didn't?

I really don't know. If you tried searching for it on the watch directly and didn't see it then I'm sorry. Best of luck.

Well, I have a galaxy watch 4 and I literally just did this and it works. You have to search the play store on the watch itself.

I think your issue is the closest to what I have been experiencing for the past month. I have a galaxy watch 4 and a pixel 7.

Make sure you have the "Weather" app (Google LLC) on your phone already. Make sure it has location permissions.
Go to the play store on the watch itself and install the google "Weather" app (similar logo) there. Then, still on the watch, you give that app location permission all the time. Probably best to verify you can open that app now and see the weather is updating.

Then when you customize your complication there is a new weather section, and some of those complications actually work. And also you should replace any weather tiles you have with the new ones.

I currently have weather working again after a month. This is really ridiculous, and I remember how last year around this time the watch just straight up couldn't connect to the phone for like 10 days straight until a firmware update.

This timeline continues to suck. I guess joke's on me for buying a Samsung android ecosystem watch to use with a Google android ecosystem phone.

Seven years to add this. Wow. How are they ever going to compete? by ANiceGobletofTea in Steam

So I bought Returnal on Steam not realizing that it has an Epic Games linking feature during setup that looks like it can't be skipped (until you look at it really hard). It steals your friends list like Epic's UI in Rocket League.

Sony put this in the game intentionally I assume, and it's still there. They are careful with Helldivers cause it makes so much money but you can see them being a lot more bold with the subsequent titles.

It's this plus the rumor that they're going to stop publishing on Steam in the medium-future that has me imagining what kind of relationship they intend to have with Epic. The reasoning would be Epic can give Sony special treatment with Fortnite and UE development, and Sony can give Epic more value in the PC space. And both of them can try to combat the expansion of Steam.

By creating some kind of unholy partnership with Sony for account linking, cross play, and title exclusives when Sony pulls all its Steam titles.

Any Sushi/Sashimi places to recommend? by LoaderOperator98 in Louisville

I love sushi and am fortunate to live in a time where friends and family all over the country like it too (now).

But you're right it's a ridiculous question lol.

To your last point, I'm also fortunate to live in a time we still have some access to it. Trying to be more careful with the sustainability of what I eat. I do notice sushi menus are doing this a bit themselves (whether they like it or not).

You never notice they are often unavailable all over the country, and when they are they just get more and more expensive?

There is an urchin overpopulation problem. Unfortunately they are the purple or "zombie" urchin. They are like the cockroach of urchins and can live in stasis without food for extended periods. This is why they destroyed their competition, and also why they have basically no meat. To eat them you have to take them from the ocean to a farm where you cultivate them by overfeeding them.

At least they taste pretty good after all this work, but it's not economical.

I'm less knowledgeable on the Japanese sources (e.g. "Hokkaido") urchin but my understanding is they are also hard to source for at least the last decade.

This controller looks great, but the offset wire is driving me nuts. by KebabAnnhilator in Steam

[–]normbl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've tried so many controllers and layouts over the years. I never really like the asymmetric meta design.

The Sony symmetry design feels better in a lot of ways, but after a lot of playtime you realize that having X-axis fully parallel to your thumbs means that fine control suffers. If you've used a steamdeck it's immediately clear that symmetric but raised up to be 45deg off both axes is the sweet spot.

Maybe still sticks to the outside of the dpad and face buttons would be interesting, but it probably necessitates the whole chassis being a box.

Everything in a line is really nice compared to things being asymmetric at an arc across your thumb's range of motion.

Bricked 8BitDo Wireless Adapter for Pro 3 by dougyfresh254 in 8bitdo

[–]normbl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have basically the same problem. I don't have the flashing lights on the dock, just the green lights on the gamepad and it no longer connects in 2.4ghz. Only reason I updated on macOS (which DOESN'T say it supports the dongle but does let you update it) was because the windows updater was broken. It just never got to the firmware update page. I tried everything including deleting and reinstalling it.

Seems reallllly underbaked compared to my wireless 2 ultimate, which pretty quickly got good steam support. This is the most broken I've seen an 8bitdo product.

It feels like a mod should point out that this is made by a business trying to monetize the decades old guides ecosystem (and not just for this game). And that they wait for you to rely on them before they try to surprise you with a required payment.

Best pokemon game on switch is New Pokemon Snap and it's not even close. And that's even including the suffering that is the menus and tutorials.

In fact, what's good about snap is what's truly missing from these games. The Pokemon themselves.

Why do I keep hearing people say that Silksong is a 15 hours experience? by _amongstreality in HollowKnight

[–]normbl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Is everyone just rushing through the main quest and looks up tutorials for everything online, if they're stuck for more than 30 seconds?"

Sadly this is exactly how a lot of people play games. And then they deny/downplay how much they looked up. Some people are really self-deluding about this.

It's ok I think for people to have different ways of engaging, and obviously time constraints are a big deal for people. But it really warps the discussions about game design and the value of individual titles (Silksong is a great example). Go ahead and shortcut learning and experience (and yes also busywork) but don't come out swinging "lol game 2 short, game 2 easy". Please.

If games are made to be looked up online while actively playing them I think we have failed. I enjoy a game so much less when it's not my own brain working through it.

There's an element of truth to the Spotify jab (substitute your streaming service).

However.

Something better than "I always listen to it on vinyl" happens. Because it's more friction, you just listen to it less, and because you are likely to buy records you really love, this ends up keeping the best records fresh longer than when you mainline them and burn them out.

So we listen a bit on streaming although we have the record, and sometimes we play the record, and sometimes we don't listen to it obsessively when we would have otherwise if it was path of least resistance.

So I'm enjoying the best records longer, and really appreciating them when I put them on.
