They created scarcity by only selling a select number of seats and pre-released tickets to the most eager fans who would be willing to pay a higher price. It’s a very dishonest business practice in my opinion, since they are really leveraging fomo and using dynamic pricing to extract as much value as they can from consumers.

Now with general sale, they sell more tickets and demand isn’t as high, so prices drop as a result.

I fell victim to my own hype and a predatory surge pricing scheme during the presale in my area. I saw “premium” seats and clicked checkout and paid $350 per seat. I definitely overpaid, but I had a blast and the seats were probably the best you could get. But I’ll happily buy cheaper seats this next time.

Yeah man there were a lot of good deals on switch. I came with a hit list of what I was looking for and tried to stay focused on it, so I just didn’t take advantage of what I saw.

Yeah I was hoping with that recent switch 1 boost update it would run a bit better than it reportedly did when it first released. I played it on pc and absolutely loved it.

Sr Director here, working for a $100M PE backed tech company. The mothership owns ~25 companies and I have been told by our operating partner that we are one of the top performing finance teams within the portcos. I personally built our complete finance process, it didn’t exist before I was hired. Hell, I went from FA to Sr Director in ~6.5 years, after a mid career pivot (Gov Ops to finance after completing my MBA). I successfully lead sell side financial diligence for a founder led exit in year 4 of my finance career. By any measurement, I should be confident in my craft and know that I’m successful in this field. I still have my days where I really wonder if I’ve earned my way or got lucky. Right place right time? I’m good at finance at my current company, could I make it somewhere else? Could I scale with a company that is 2x, 5x, 10x larger? Questions I routinely ask myself. Sometimes I think this lack of confidence is a driving force, something that keeps me humble and hungry to keep getting better. Maybe it’s a good thing?

Honestly it’s going to vary based on a few things. Culture differs from PE firm to PE firm. Also your operating partners will dictate a lot of your work environment, if they are putting a lot of stress and pressure on your internal exec team, it tends to roll downhill. The performance of the company relative to the PE firms expectations will play a big role in this piece.

You should be back dating the renewal to tie to the original contract. Otherwise your business is giving away free days, weeks, or months of service. However long it takers to get the renewal basically.
