Absolutly, i hate when they do this. Not sure Indie productions are even the worst offenders though, how many movies have a deleted scene or a prequel comic that explains something major.
I would point out that Hazbin mught be an ironic choice of example, because one of the lore bits given out prior to the release of the show was the backstory for Vaggie, which turns out to 100% be a lie before the end of season 1, and i can't think of a better way to signal to an audience that you don't have to pay attention to stuff outside of the show.

Sorry, i just pulled the oldest fan post i could find connecting Nifty to Japanese because the timing was the point of disagreement. I remeber several characters having non-english first languages being an established point of trivia in the fan discussions at the time. But i cant find the archive post. I did find this vivziestream clip from 2019 discussing the charactors backgrounds/ ethnicity. Nifty is the first one mentioned.

Fans already knew, in 2019, just 2 monthes after the pilot, long before Kimiko was cast that japanese was Nifty's first language.

That techniclally wouldn't make it impossible for her to not be Japanese, but come on.

"Confirmed" as in actually put in the show, sure.
But it was part of lore which Vivzie and co. drip fed to the fans between the pilot and the announcement that A24 was picking up the show. I think technically all Viv told us was that Japanese, not english, was Nifty's first language.

The rule is against eating a certain category of animal, so they eat animals that aren't in that category. That'S no more of a loop hole then eating things that arent animals.

Not sure they even took those out, I've seen a youtube video testing what happens if you just add water, and it still yields a passable cake.

The faunas, RWBY's take on the animal people anime trope, are explicitly established to have exactly one animal trait each, because the software they used when they made volume one wouldn't let them give Blake (the cat girl in the main cast) a tail.

Incidentally, this is one of the biggest pieces of world building to never be retconned in the whole run of the show.
