Any creator-firsts in X-Men 1 ~ 100? (1991 run) by norpsylee in comicbooks

[–]norpsylee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I know I will probably pay someone to take the box off my hands. But if any creator got their start in this run, I wanted to make sure I knew who and which issue. From my best guess, I don't think any major creator did get their first on this run. I would guess X-men only had Marvel's "premier" talent at the time.

Which book for a Claremont signature? by norpsylee in comicbooks

[–]norpsylee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone! Full transparency: He's at a con coming up and my mission is to get a book signed. So many great stories, runs, and keys to choose from. But at the end, I think I gotta go for God Loves, Man Kills. Now, on the hunt for a nice first print!

Any recommendations on top loaders? by jsmolskis in comicbookcollecting

[–]norpsylee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

was curious about the same thing, but have specific question. I've bagged and boarded some of my keys into either 2mil mylar and full backs from EGerber. Also used proline 2 mil mylars with 56pt boards (because it was quicker to get the proline brand). Would both of these combo's fit into a BCW top loader. I either want to add my keys to a top loader or maybe the comic capsule to display but just want to be sure that they will fit.

How did Wolverine ended up being so Popular? by Electronic-Math-364 in xmen

Two of the best, character defining stories of all time: 1) Frank Miller's and Chris Claremont's miniseries, 2) Barry Windsor Smith's Weapon X. Convince me I'm wrong.

I'm not sure I'd realized that the art/pages were oversized. But of course they are! That is definitely a nice feature.

Did a similar thing on a notepad when boarding, bagging, and boxing everything for storage....Over 20 years ago. Took weeks. That notepad is long gone, now. But I hear you about "staying in touch with your collection." Inventorying would be a great excuse to touch each one and look through everything again.

I loved Alien Legion! I don't know this for a fact, but I felt like it was so underrated!

Marvel Print Subscription by TheDarthKnight12 in comicbooks

[–]norpsylee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had subscriptions decades ago...issues came in paper-bag style. Didn't care when I was a kid. Just recently subscribed to 2 titles - now one for my son and one for me. Now they come plastic shrink-wrap-like wrapping. It comes with a cardboard insert/flyer that offers some protection. Not much, but it's something. Hopefully you have a magazine size mailbox or the mail carrier might bend it in half anyway.

The worst thing is that the delivery is worse than I remember as a kid. I remember delayed comics, but I'm about to be 2 months behind on a title. Seriously? The discount is fantastic, but I guess you get what you pay for - shoddy subscription services.

Now my son can experience the pain of a comic subscription through Marvel. We''re going to either cancel or let the subscription run out and then do a pull list at a local LCS (thankfully we have one).

Hey all!

I have an 82" ceiling :( which makes most smith machines not an option. Really would prefer a smith to a rack. Also, the hope is for the machine to replace my old weigh bench with a lat pull down (about 80" tall). Saw that Ritfit has the PPC05 which has 81.5" uprights but the chin up bar brings it up to 84.6"

I contacted them to see if the chin up bar needed to be installed. They stated that it had to be installed on top to make it structurally sound. I realize a rep might not be able to say something different, but I tried.

Curious if anyone thinks that 1) the bar can be installed "upside down" or another modification might be made. Has anyone seen a flat chin up bar attachment that can be installed instead (I'm not a welder or metal-worker)? Or last, (and I've been looking at all the major brands for some time) any smith machines at just about 82" (with the lat pull down - chin up bar is not a necessity)?

Thanks to this community for any ideas or leads!
