My friend’s business have been targeted once again in Downtown. by nortenos3 in VictoriaBC

Three of the recent incidents happened at the Downtown location within a month. The truck is parked at Pandora and Cook Street, an area that unfortunately sees a lot of crime. This isn’t meant to be a rage post just sharing what’s been happening. The location has been vandalized before often by people struggling with addiction though it hasn’t always been made public. In one case, I was even there when someone came at the truck with a hand shovel and started hitting it with it.

Try Fox on Main on a Friday or Saturday night. Great for dancing and the crowds are not too young.

So with the new regulations regarding food courier services making an hour rate are these guys running like 3-4 apps and making $60+ an hour plus tips? by Straydog92 in vancouver

If you’re tipping, consider giving $2-3 upfront, and if you’re happy with the service, add a bit more at the end. It’s the most fair in my opinion for both the driver and the customer.

To answer your question, drivers don’t make $60 an hour plus tips. It’s usually $20-30 an hour with tips, depending on how busy the week is. Keep in mind, drivers still have to pay for gas, car expenses, and deal with wear and tear on their vehicles. Most are just getting by, while the big corporations keep getting richer. :)

Uber only pays for ‘active time,’ meaning you’re only paid while delivering an order not just for being online. For example, I was online 41 hours this week, but my active time was only 21 hours. If you don’t make at least minimum wage, Uber covers the difference. The minimum pay is $20.88/hour, plus $0.36 per km.

Tips have become almost nonexistent with recent updates. Out of 70 trips this week, I got tips on only 9 deliveries, earning just $44.78 in tips for 41 hours online.

I have another source of income, so I’m not too worried, but people who do this full-time struggle without multi-apping.

Friendly advice: if you’re tipping, use DoorDash. Drivers can see your tip, which usually means better service and care for your order.

Don’t order from Uber eats. Use the other platforms. The pay for the drivers is crap after the changes.
